The Department of Homeland Security’s militarized invasion of a small town in Illinois was not in response to a gang of dangerous drug dealers or an armed assailant, but in order to bust a single man accused of downloading indecent images to his home computer.
Freckle-faced Archie will meet his demise when he intervenes in an assassination attempt on Senator Kevin Keller, Archie Comics' first openly gay character, who's pushing for more gun control in Riverdale. Archie's death, which was first announced in April, will mark the conclusion of the "Life with Archie" series.
A prominent law professor and avowed supporter of the Obama White House will tell the House on Wednesday that the president has created one of the biggest constitutional crises in the country’s history and will endorse House Republicans’ effort to sue to rein him in.
Jonathan Turley, a professor at George Washington University, will say President Obama is trampling the founders’ vision for the country in his push to circumvent Congress, and he will demand Republicans and Democrats alike forget their party labels to unify against this White House’s power grab.
Officials at Ohio University are considering mandatory classes for students who get caught smoking on campus as part of a draconian ban on smoking for the upcoming 2015-2016 academic year.
The ban will outlaw every use of cigarettes and e-cigarettes on any part of the 1,850-acre public university campus, reports The Athens News, the local newspaper.
Currently, the amount of federal debt is exactly 74 percent of the economy, and if measures aren’t taken to reign in the deficits, the CBO projects that by 2039 the U.S. will see a debt to GDP ratio of 106 percent. According to the CBO, the rate of debt growth is expanding at an undeniably unsustainable rate.
Spend more than 6 minutes a day in the bathroom at Chicago's WaterSaver Faucet company and you'll face disciplinary measures.
That's what a union contends the manufacturer is pulling: timing bathroom breaks and warning employees when they can't beat the clock.
According to the whistleblower, who has thus far remained anonymous for fear of reprisal, the Department of Homeland Security on orders from the White House was preparing to disperse the protesters with physical force if necessary. Federal riot police were being mobilized, complete with riot gear, body armor and armored personnel carriers.
When local law enforcement and border patrol agents, many of whom live in Murrieta, got wind of the plot they reportedly pushed back against the Federal government and themselves protested behind closed doors.
HOUSTON – The Texas Department of Public Safety has quietly embarked on a project to take the fingerprints of every Texan old enough to drive over the next 12 years, and add them to a statewide criminal history database.
Not only has the department made that momentous decision on its own, it doesn’t even have clear legal authority to do so.
Thanks to the militarization and expansion of the “border” region, 197 million Americans now live within the jurisdiction of US Customs and Border Patrol.
National Crime Agency detains suspected child abusers, including doctors and teachers, and takes more than 400 children into care
News channel WNCT 9 received calls from alarmed residents in response to reports of numerous DHS vehicles parked outside a bankruptcy court in Greenville, North Carolina. However, the “heavy presence” was not because of any specific threat associated with the building.
DHS officials told the station that armed Homeland Security agents were out in full force “as part of their community outreach to let people know that they are in the area.”
The feds were also present in order to remind people about the DHS’ “See Something, Say Something” domestic snitch program.
Plaintiff Debra Goodman claimed her rights were violated when she tried to record police activity last September on the Upper West Side.
Goodman was arrested at 73rd Street and Broadway, and alleged that she was pushed by officers and then detained for more than 24 hours.
“He asked me to produce ID. I refused, because I knew I wasn’t doing anything wrong,” Goodman said. “And then he grabbed my arm and handcuffed me, and told me I was under arrest.”
The House of Representatives today voted in favor of Washington DC gun owners.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) today offered an amendment to the House Spending Bill today that would essentially defund all gun control efforts in the nation’s capital.
In 1983, as the AIDS epidemic was raging, gays and bisexual men were banned from donating blood by the FDA. Now San Francisco Supervisor Scott Wiener has introduced a resolution to end the ban, and the city board is expected to approve it.
“Criminals are getting the message that good Detroiters are armed and will use that weapon,” said Craig, who has repeatedly said he believes armed citizens deter crime. “I don’t want to take away from the good work our investigators are doing, but I think part of the drop in crime, and robberies in particular, is because criminals are thinking twice that citizens could be armed.
WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson warns that some parents of Central American children attempting to cross the U.S. border illegally already know of the risks, noting that some girls are given birth control “in case they’re raped along the way.”
The kidnapping began early 9 July when the three men, posing as police officers, pulled the man over as he was going to work in his hometown of St Matthews, about 30 miles southeast of Columbia. His truck, still running, was left on the side of the road with its door open.
Ransom demands were sent to the man's family within hours of his disappearance and continued for several days.
The man was involved in delivering cocaine, marijuana and money throughout South Carolina and North Carolina, according to a complaint filed in federal court. He is currently not in custody and does not face any charges.
"Right now he's a victim, and we will have to look at that very carefully," said FBI agent David Thomas, who is in charge of the Columbia office.
The Economist article about this national identification scheme went largely unnoticed because it had a very boring title: “Estonia takes the plunge“. But the content of the article is absolutely startling. The Economist article calls the Estonian national identification system a “cyberdream” and makes it sound like it will solve all of our problems…
If this was just limited to Estonia, it would be disturbing enough. But according to the Economist, the Estonian government plans to start issuing these cards to millions of “satellite Estonians” all over the world…There is one place where this cyberdream is already reality. Secure, authenticated identity is the birthright of every Estonian: before a newborn even arrives home, the hospital will have issued a digital birth certificate and his health insurance will have been started automatically. All residents of the small Baltic state aged 15 or over have electronic ID cards, which are used in health care, electronic banking and shopping, to sign contracts and encrypt e-mail, as tram tickets, and much more besides—even to vote.
A video posted Saturday to YouTube claims the federal government is preparing to institute martial law in the United States. Worse yet, the video says pastors are helping the federal government by teaching their congregations to blindly obey the government, citing Romans 13. The video, long on accusations but somewhat short on specifics, claims two pastors have come forward to blow the whistle on the operation.
But is the federal government really enlisting pastors in an effort to subjugate the population? In 2007, one year before Obama's election, Louisiana television station KSLA reported that the Department of Homeland Security had enlisted clergy to help keep the public subservient to the government in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
. . .
But the situation may be worse than KSLA first reported. On Friday, a post at Tea Party Crusaders claimed that in return for helping government officials, pastors would be the first vaccinated in event of an outbreak and would be fully compensated in the event of any problems.
"We get the picture that we’re going to be standing at the end of some farmer’s lane while he’s standing there with his double barrel, saying we have to confiscate your cows, your chickens, your firearms,” said one person identified only as "Pastor Revere." The pastor allegedly went on to describe an Orwellian alteration of words that would be used to describe a potential martial law situation.
"They’re not using the term ‘quarantine’ – this is the term they’re going to be using – it’s called ‘social distancing’ don’t you like that one,” he reportedly said. So-called "relocation centers" would be referred to as "community centers" that would be established at public schools.
