Jeanette Cooper, a mom in Chicago, has missed her daughter’s 13th, 14th, and 15th birthdays. She doesn’t get to be there as her daughter is learning to drive. In fact, she has only seen Sophia for eight and a half hours in the last three years. That’s because Cooper lost custody of her daughter after refusing to go along with Sophia’s belief that she is transgender.

News broke Monday evening that the FBI falsely labeled verified intelligence and credible evidence against Hunter Biden as “disinformation” in order to shut down an investigation of him in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election.

It’s hard to overstate the significance of this, despite the lack of attention the story has received so far from the corporate press. The FBI has now directly interfered in two consecutive presidential elections, placing a heavy hand on the scales to benefit Democrats in 2016 and 2020, all in hopes of keeping Donald Trump out of the White House. It would not be too much to say the FBI is a threat to democracy and that it should be disbanded.

Here’s what happened. According to a letter released by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, addressed to Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray, numerous “highly credible whistleblowers” have come forward about “a scheme in place among certain FBI officials to undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation.”

The United States government made the most requests out of any in the world.

“We continue to see a concerning trend toward attempts to limit global press freedom, with an increase in government legal demands targeting journalists, as well as an overall increasing number of legal demands on accounts – both represent record highs since reporting began,” Twitter wrote in a blog post.

Jeannette Cooper hasn't had visitation rights with her daughter, Sophia, in nearly three years.

In the summer of 2019, Sophia arrived at her father's house for a routine custody visit and announced that she was transgender. Her mother had no idea.

Sophia's father alleged in court that his daughter was "no longer mentally or emotionally safe" with her mother. Previously, Jeannette had custody of her daughter six days and seven nights a week.

A comprehensive custody investigation was launched. Both of Sophia's parents underwent psychological testing, home visits, and character evaluations. In addition, interviews were conducted with friends and family who had observed Sophia in the care of her mother.

Approximately 20 years ago, then-prominent commentator Bill O’Reilly remarked on his erstwhile Fox News show that Americans would “never” accept faux (same-sex) marriage. As recently as 13 years ago, all 32 states that had voted on the matter rejected government faux marriage recognition. A year later, in 2010, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton still pretended to believe that marriage was between “a man and a woman.” They later “evolved,” as politicians like to put it, and now the public has largely followed suit, with a May Gallup poll showing that 71 percent of Americans and 55 percent of Republicans believe these unions should be governmentally recognized. There’s a word for this: inurement.

Thus is it not surprising that, as ABC News puts it, some “Republicans see good politics in [the] same-sex marriage bill.” As the news organ writes:

When asked if he’d support legislation to protect same-sex marriage, one conservative Republican senator was almost nonchalant.

“I see no reason to oppose it,” Ron Johnson of Wisconsin told reporters, bringing Democrats one vote closer to an unexpected victory as they move to safeguard same-sex marriage and other rights after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion nationwide.

Johnson’s answer, which came after 47 Republicans voted for the bill in the House last week, was reflective of a stark shift in GOP positioning after decades of fighting same-sex marriage. Ten years ago, most Republicans proudly espoused that marriage could only be between a man and a woman. Now, a federal law protecting same-sex marriage is within reach in an election year, with some Republican backing.

The republic has fallen. No amount of voting will save it now.
