Wow, it’s not everyday that a city council votes to restrict both the First and Second Amendments in one session! If they had thrown some kind of involuntary search ordinance in there they could have been 3/3 on violating our most important rights all in one night! Maybe next time.

The Arlington, TX city council took the first step in passing two local ordinances, both aimed at limiting the actions of a local open carry group.

The first ordinance would forbid firearms or “simulated weapons” at any sort of government building or meeting. Yeah, as far as we can tell that means anything that looks like a gun.

The second ordinance would limit the ability of people to pass out literature in public. In this case, the measure is directly targeting Open Carry Texas’s efforts to pass out pocket constitutions to people (kind of ironic considering the unconstitutional issues being discussed here).

Debate got pretty heated during the debate. It did look like pro gun rights supporters had an overwhelming majority present though.

Agenda 21: The BLM Land Grabbing Endgame

Why is the federal government so obsessed with grabbing more land? After all, the federal government already owns more than 40 percent of the land in 9 different U.S. states. Why are federal bureaucrats so determined to grab even more? The ACLU has jumped into a troubling legal fight, in which it appears that the DOJ has issued gag orders against Twitter and Yahoo concerning grand jury subpoenas that have been sent to both companies. This case is one we mentioned last week where magistrate judge John Facciola asked the two companies to weigh in, as he appears unconvinced that the government's request is sound. Georgetown city council to vote on limiting lawn size

Lakes in Central Texas continue to shrink because of the drought. Tuesday members of the Georgetown City Council will vote on a plan to reduce the amount of grass that can be used for new homes.

Recent rains have done a lot to keep lawns green in Georgetown, but so have irrigation systems. It’s estimated, during the summer months 75 percent of the daily water use in town is for watering lawns.

How Taxpayers Subsidize the Multi-Million Dollar Salaries of Restaurant CEOs

As the fight to raise the minimum wage has gained momentum, the restaurant industry has emerged as the biggest opponent. This is no surprise, since the industry claims the highest percentage of low-wage workers—60 percent—of any other business sector. Front-line fast-food workers earn so little money that about half of them rely on some form of public assistance, to the tune of about $7 billion a year. That hidden subsidy has helped boost restaurant industry profits to record highs. In 2013, the industry reaped $660 billion in profits, and it in turn channeled millions into backing efforts to block local governments from raising pay for low-wage workers and to keep the minimum wage for tipped workers at $2.13 an hour (exactly where it's been for the past 22 years). But public assistance programs aren't the only way taxpayers subsidize the restaurant industry.

'Militia' groups fear infiltration by feds at Bundy Ranch

BUNKERVILLE, Nev. -- Militia groups are still surrounding the Bundy ranch days after the BLM ended its roundup of cattle. There is concern among some of them that they have been infiltrated by undercover federal agents.

One man, among the self-described militia, says at least two federal agents went undercover to gather information and are preparing to make arrests. This latest information is causing increased tensions among those who say their goal is to protect rancher Cliven Bundy. Around 50 people remain at the ranch, many living in tents, and are prepared to stay for weeks, even months. The men say they took an oath to protect, but they are worried there is a rat in the ranks

"When you pledge your life and your fortune, you're prepared to give it up," said Bobby Bridgewater, an Oath Keeper.
