The persecution of Christians in Canada is accelerating, as authorities in Calgary, Alberta, in a dramatic highway takedown, have arrested a second pastor for defying COVID restrictions by opening his church.

Polish-Canadian Pastor Artur Pawlowski, and his brother Dawid Pawlowski, were apprehended by a swarm of armed, masked police on a busy highway on Saturday after the pastor refused to comply with a government-mandated health order to keep his services at reduced capacity and enforce social distancing and mask-wearing.

Pawlowski reportedly held church services as usual on Saturday, ignoring threats of arrest if he flouted the COVID rules. On his way home, he was pulled over on the freeway, surrounded by five police vehicles, and taken into custody.

Even though vaccines essentially mean victory over COVID-19, some pandemic junkies just can’t quit the lockdown lifestyle. Exhibit A: Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband were recently photographed exchanged a masked-up goodbye kiss, outdoors, and despite both of them being fully vaccinated. Similar examples abound, such as President Biden masking up for a videoconference.

The justifications for such behavior — “they were setting an example” or “other people were around” — frankly, only make matters worse. These displays are nonsensical as public health measures, and insofar as these excesses encourage the skeptical to believe that it is all a farce, instead of encouraging responsible mask-wearing, they discourage it.

When CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky announced the updated guidance on mask-wearing, she told reporters that studies showed "less than 10 percent" of documented COVID-19 transmissions occurs outdoors. But several epidemiologists who spoke to the Times say the CDC's benchmark is misleading.

The number "seems to be a huge exaggeration," said Dr. Muge Cevik, a virologist at the University of St. Andrews.

Epidemiologists who spoke to the Times say the actual rate of outdoor transmission is less than 1% and may even be below 0.1%. If outdoor transmission does occur, it happens in crowded places or during close conversation, the Times' David Leonhardt reported.

By saying outdoor transmission is "less than 10 percent" of COVID-19 transmission, the CDC actually made the risk of catching COVID outdoors seem far greater than it actually is.

I have a Jewish friend who lives in Tel Aviv with her husband and four children. She has a sister who lives in NYC who she visits every year. My friend thinks it is more dangerous to live in NYC than in Israel. Way Way more dangerous ( even though they all have gas masks in the closet!)
