Walgreens security guard in San Francisco defends fatal shooting of trans-identifying shoplifting suspect: 'Who has my back? Nobody.' - TheBlaze

The Walgreens security guard who reportedly shot and killed a shoplifting suspect in San Francisco late last month has come forward to defend his actions.

Just before 6:30 p.m. on April 27, Michael Earl-Wayne Anthony, 33, was working a shift as a security guard at a Walgreens in downtown San Francisco when he spotted a person he believed was shoplifting. Anthony approached the suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Banko Brown, and their confrontation quickly turned hostile. According to reports, Brown began hitting Anthony and even "spat" on him.

Brown, who was reportedly "unarmed" at the time, even allegedly threatened to stab Anthony, though with what is unclear. Anthony subsequently ordered the suspect leave the store. When the suspect refused, Anthony gestured toward his weapon but did not point it, reports said.

However, Brown then made a move toward Anthony, who then reportedly grabbed his gun and shot the suspect. Brown was transported to a nearby hospital "with gunshot wounds," the Daily Mail claimed, but died shortly after arriving.

Virginia Dem opposes parental rights in education, claims they 'indoctrinate' their children | The Post Millennial | thepostmillennial.com

A resurfaced video from 2021 shows current Democrat candidate for Virginia’s House of Delegates District 71, Jessica Anderson, claiming that parents who want to be involved in their children's education and exercise their parental rights are trying to "indoctrinate" the youth.

Anderson said, "I'm sorry but I’ve seen some of the parents that live in Virginia. You should not be dictating what your daughters and sons curriculum looks like."

Heritage Foundation President: CCP Has Infiltrated Almost Every Country – PJ Media

The mass murdering, anti-freedom Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has infiltrated almost every country in the world, and America needs to counter the “evil” CCP, Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts told EpochTV.

”The CCP has infiltrated nearly every country in the world,” and the U.S. is heavily dependent on CCP pharma products and minerals (including rare earths to make electronics), Roberts told EpochTV’s Jan Jekielek during an April 29 interview. “Let’s hope that on January 20, 2025, we replace the very CCP-friendly president of the United States with a man or a woman who knows what time it is, and that it’s time to confront them [the CCP], to defeat them, and to eliminate them.”

Heritage Foundation has a report: “Winning the New Cold War: A Plan for Countering China.” The report advises ending all CCP lobbying in the U.S., calling it “outrageous” that “there would be any American citizen within blocks of where you and I are sitting having this conversation who would take $1 from a CCP-interest.” The CCP funds American businesses, universities, and politicians. Roberts also cited CCP investment in the U.S. military industry.

White House Unveils Rules Targeting Journalists Who Refuse To Be ‘Professional’ | The Daily Caller

The White House released new requirements Friday outlining which journalists are allowed in the briefing room and presidential events, and warning about unprofessional behavior.

The new rules require journalists to submit a letter to gain access to the White House grounds with information about their employment, mandating that reporters work for “an organization whose principal business is news dissemination.”

The rule change comes as the administration has been facing repeated outbursts in the briefing room from reporters like Simon Ateba, and comes days after World Press Freedom Day. Journalists have called out White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre for not giving fair representation in the briefing room and the Biden administration has faced criticism from the press corps over unfair access to White House events.

NATO to Open Office in Japan to Increase Influence in Indo-Pacific - The New American

Japan and NATO are hoping to boost cooperation in cyberspace, with the U.S.-led military alliance hoping to open its first liaison office in Tokyo, according to a May 3 report by Nikkei Asia.

Citing both Japanese and NATO officials, the news outlet reported that the slated one-person station would permit NATO to have occasional consultations with regional “partners” such as Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea.

Since Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg first suggested the idea of a NATO liaison office earlier this year, plans for setting up the office have been underway, based on Nikkei sources.

Nikkei also pointed out that as host nations usually provided comparable NATO stations, it would indicate a new phase in the Japan-NATO defense collaboration if Tokyo eventually bankrolls a Western military foothold in Japan.

Study: Masks May Cause Stillbirths, Cognitive Problems, and Infertility - The New American

Wearing a mask for prolonged periods may cause stillbirths, poor cognitive development in children, and reduced fertility in adolescents, a German study found.

“There is experimental evidence for a possible negative impact risk on the mental and reproductive health of children, adolescents and early life (unborn) due to chronic carbon dioxide re-breathing since the introduction of mask mandates,” the researchers wrote in a study published in the journal Heliyon.

Wearing a mask for a prolonged period, as 4.5 billion people worldwide were required to do during the Covid-19 pandemic, increases the level of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the wearer’s bloodstream because he is rebreathing exhaled air. While N95 masks cause the greatest increase, “all mask types … can be responsible for a significant and comparable rise in the blood content of CO2,” penned the scientists.

Fresh air contains approximately 0.04 percent CO2, but mask usage can increase the concentration to as much as 3.2 percent. “In expert literature,” noted the authors, “concentrations of >2% carbon dioxide in inhaled air are expected to cause adverse health effects.”

Obesity Epidemic Linked to Unexpected Factor: New Study

A new study published in Nature Metabolism (pdf) has revealed that the basal metabolic rate (BMR) in people in the United States and Europe has decreased over the past three decades, potentially contributing to the growing obesity epidemic in both regions.

Basal metabolic rate, or basal energy expenditure, refers to the energy required per unit of time for the body to maintain vital functions such as breathing, blood circulation, and maintaining body temperature. Put simply, BMR is the number of calories the body burns while at rest. BMR is one component in the body’s total energy expenditure. The other is activity expenditure, the number of calories burned during physical activity, such as running or walking.

The Washington Post Did a Poll on the Trans Narrative, and It Didn't Like the Results – PJ Media

With a headline of “Most Americans support anti-trans policies favored by GOP, poll shows,” the Post managed to both denigrate those who don’t fall in line with the left-wing narrative on the issue and unnecessarily politicize it.

“Most Americans don’t believe it’s even possible to be a gender that differs from that assigned at birth,” write reporters Laura Meckler and Scott Clement (and you can almost hear the gasp in that sentence). “A 57 percent majority of adults said a person’s gender is determined from the start, with 43 percent saying it can differ.”

FYI: it's not Basal Energy Expenditure. It's called, at least in metabolic research circles, Resting Energy Expenditure as opposed to both Basal Metabolic Rate and Total Energy Expenditure (resting + exercise and movement energy expenditure). From the Physiology Doctor....

The decrease in overall TOTAL ENERGY EXPENDITURE over the past decade is due, in part, if not almost entirely, to a decrease in activity. More sedentary lifestyle will reduce Total Energy Expenditure which is the measure of Total Metabolic Rate. Lots of couch potatoes, not so many fitness enthusiasts. Maybe AI can find a solution to that problem. Or is it the problem?

Study: Significant number of young men could have been spared schizophrenia had they avoided marijuana - TheBlaze

New research has provided additional support for the previously established link between marijuana use and schizophrenia, further revealing that thousands of young men with a predisposition to madness have needlessly lost their minds.

A team of Danish researchers associated with the Copenhagen Research Center for Mental Health executed a deep dive into Danish health histories from 1972 to 2021, examining the health records of roughly 6.9 million people.

Their analysis has fleshed out additional insights into the role that delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC: the primary psychoactive component of cannabis) has in the triggering and/or worsening of mental illness, schizophrenia in particular.

The team indicated in their study, published Thursday in the journal Psychological Medicine, that not only are young men especially susceptible to the effects cannabis has on schizophrenia, but up to 30% of schizophrenia diagnoses could have been averted had men in the 21 to 30 age range not abused cannabis.

Canada unveils new crown with snowflake and maple leaves instead of religious symbols
The new design replaces the religious symbols with Canadian symbolism, trading crosses and fleur-de-lis for maple leaves and a snowflake

The federal government has revealed its new design for the Canadian Royal Crown that sits atop the Canada Coat of Arms.

The new crown, which is a heraldic emblem and not a material object, replaces the religious symbols with more explicitly Canadian symbolism, trading crosses and fleur-de-lis for maple leaves and a snowflake.

Government of Canada Strengthens Access to Abortion Services
Everyone should have access to safe and consistent reproductive health services, including abortion. Although abortion has been legal in Canada for five decades, many people continue to experience barriers to access. Sexual and reproductive health is health care and the Government of Canada will always defend a woman’s right to choose while improving access for everyone.

“We know that women across Canada face barriers when accessing abortion services - such as the cost of travel, cultural stigma, and difficulties accessing accurate information. This is why it is critical that we continue to work with organizations like Action Canada and the University of British Columbia, to make sure that underserved women have access to safe abortion services, wherever they live. We will always support a woman’s right to choose, and we will continue protecting sexual and reproductive health rights.” The Honourable Marci Ien Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth

Milk is a better drink for hydration than water, study finds - CBS Boston

Sure, you can always reach for a glass of water - but plain H20 isn't the most hydrating beverage around, according to a study from Scotland's St. Andrews University that compared the hydration responses of several different drinks.

The researchers found that while water - both still and sparkling - does a pretty good job of quickly hydrating the body, beverages with a little bit of sugar, fat or protein do an even better job of keeping us hydrated for longer.

California launches new snitch hotline to report 'hate acts' and 'hate incidents' — including 'name calling' - TheBlaze

Last Thursday, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and the California Civil Rights Department announced the launch of CA vs Hate. Through the hotline, Californians will be able to snitch on their neighbors for committing "hate acts," which the service explicitly states do not always include violence.

"A hate incident is a hostile expression or action that may be motivated by bias against another person’s actual or perceived identity," the website states. "Perpetrators may be motivated by different discriminatory biases, including, but not limited to; bias based on race, color, disability, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender, including gender identity."

So, they are getting away with this by claiming they aren't a religion BUT they are fighting in court that abortion is a Church of Satan sacrament.

Get Behind Me, After School Satan Club!

That said, even if Satanism isn’t actually a religion, one could argue that a club in its name still should enjoy the freedoms of speech and association. This is true. A group of middle schoolers should be free to meet up and talk about whatever big ideas they might have and call their club whatever they want.

Argentina Switches From Dollar to Yuan in Trade Deals With China

Argentina will officially start paying for Chinese imports in yuan rather than dollars, Argentine Economy Minister Sergio Massa announced on Wednesday. Argentine authorities hope the currency deal will help ease the country’s diminishing dollar reserves. Building up its foreign currency reserves was a key pledge that Argentina’s government made as part of a $44.5 billion debt relief deal with the International Monetary Fund—and doing so is seen as critical to the stability of the country’s financial system.

Don't forget that it was apparently Biden that destroyed the Nord1 pipeline.

Expensive energy may have killed more Europeans than covid-19 last winter
After Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Vladimir Putin weaponised his country’s energy supplies: cutting gas exports to Europe and causing prices to surge. Although wholesale costs have now fallen across the continent, the prices of domestic electricity and gas, compared with two years earlier, were up by an eye-watering 69% and 145% last winter.

High energy prices can cost lives. They discourage people from heating their homes properly, and living in cold conditions raises the risk of cardiac and respiratory problems. In November The Economist predicted that expensive power might result in between 22,000 and 138,000 deaths during a mild winter. Unfortunately, we appear to have been correct.
