[Old But Important] Those U.N. peacekeeping atrocities

Post by mes5464 »

Those U.N. peacekeeping atrocities
How sensational is this non-story? Yesterday, the London Telegraph, in a combined dispatch with AFP, reported that Belgian troops roasted a Somali boy. Roasted him! And what was the sentence for this peace crime committed during an operation dubbed ironically “Restore Hope”? A military court sentenced two paratroopers to a month in jail and a fine of 200 pounds.

This post is extremely misleading. The article you're referencing is from 1997. Didn't happen yesterday.

Wot - you seem to be coming in making attacks on people's honesty:

Note UPB's response,

Perhaps some will hesitate to stand up to your unkind statements, wot (the above is just one example), but when we identify ad-hominem bullying tactics, we will do so!

That's the hypothesis I'm operating under.

You guys seem to be missing the point. My point is very simply: what's the point? What is the point of this article from 1997. Is the UN currently in the midst of an atrocious act that we should be concerned with?

No, that we should be aware of stories of dangerous organizations in spite of how much the mainstream media fails to point out their atrocities in the hopes that the public will forget about them.
