TAVARES, Fla. -- Possible propane explosions at the Blue Rhino LP gas plant rocked the Tavares area on Monday.

The plant is located on County Road 448 and several residential areas surround it.

Several locals called WESH 2 to report seeing flames and hearing loud explosions.

"It sounds like bombs are going off," Norma Haygood said.

No other information was immediately available.

I'm approximately 20 miles south of the explosion, local news has live converge and I've been listening to fire/rescue on the police scanner. The facility stores 53,000 20Lb propane cylanders, plus larger tanks and a underground pipeline which brings gas to the plant. Last I heard 7 confirmed hospitalized and 15 unaccounted for, there's a mandatory evacuation within one mile of the plant. Half the county's fire departments responded to the call initially the explosion was felt 10 miles away by residents. Things are just winding down should know more in the morning.

wow, I sure hope those that have been injured and burned will fully recover and I hope all will be accounted for soon. So far I haven't heard if they have said what they think caused the fire in the first place....have you heard anything?
