Train accident in Spain

Post by overseas »

A very serious train accident happend in Spain yesterday night.

The reason why I am oppening this post is to let you know there was a missionary travelling in this train. It looks like he is one of the survivers. I haven't got much information about it, because everyhing is very confussng so far. I have seen a picture of this elder, but I am not sure about his name. I just would like to send a message of hope and relief to his families and friends. (Maybe they are reading from this forum), and say that it's a miracle that he is still alive. I am still trying to find more information about other injured peple. This is very sad!

I know the name of the Elder. I don't know if it's allowed to post his name here. Please let me know if it's Ok.

I am concerned that the Elder was probably not travelling alone. Does anyone know if his companion was with him, and what his condition is?

Looks like he was travelling alone from the CCM (MTC) from Madrid to his first area in the mission field. I have read something about that a missionary couple was going with him, but I am not sure about it. Members from A Coruña city say that now his new companion is with him and the members from that unit and the Mission President are taking care of him.

The train that derailed in Santiago de Compostela killing 80 people and leaving more than a hundred injured was reportedly travelling at more than twice the speed limit.
