Dealing with Abuse

Post by Rose Garden »

I was recently touched by this blog entry: http://depressedmomo.blogspot.com/2012/ ... ecret.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in which an LDS woman talks about her childhood abuse. She makes the point that in our culture, we shy away from talking about abuse and that is bad because it enables the abuse. In response to this and other experiences I have had, I decided to create a forum for abuse victims to share their stories and advice. I'd like to invite anyone who suffered any type of abuse to join and support each other in overcoming this problem. The link is: http://www.mysafeplace.us/index.php?sid ... a80a33aafa" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

U sure that's the best way to address some really deep person serious issues?

Maybe take it to the sisters/ private area.

I think all cultures shy away from abuse. If you need help get it, sooner the better. Unfortunately it can be a rocky road.

I have found help for my personal situation. I found it from the Lord. Now I want to share that with others. That's why I set up the site.

One of the problems victims of abuse have is that they feel isolated, believe no one understands how they feel, and believe that no one has ever been in their situation before. This keeps them away from other people and even the Lord, which is the only source of true healing available to us. As they learn about others who have suffered and overcame, they can find the courage to reach out and get the help they need to overcome their personal problems. This is how it worked for me and I believe it will work for everyone.

So, yes, Aussie, I do think this the best way to address some serious personal issues. I thought about taking it to the sisters' area but realized that I don't want it to be isolated to only women. I started out that way but changed my mind. Men suffer from abuse as well. No reason why they shouldn't be just as welcome on the site as the women.

Definitely better to set it up on another site than to have it here. Thanks CtS.

Funny, they never notified me. I'll have to check the settings. I think I have it set to approve the first post, like on this site, but then all other posts should be able to post. I don't know for sure yet, though.

Wow. Took me a long time to figure that out but I got you approved. Hopefully all the rest of the posts should be automatically approved.
