The Infowars article is focusing on the sensational aspect of the main article quoted (murder? human sacrifice?), and ignoring he more likely scenario - Franklin rented out the basement for a medical school.

While no one doubts that Washington and Franklin were Masons, Alex is doing guilt by association - the same way that other Christians think LDS are occult because Joseph Smith became a mason later on...everything I have found indicates that while European FreeMasonry was corrupt in the Revolutionary War Era - significantly due to Adam Weishupt and Illuminati - American freemasory appears to have been generally free from taint until after the Civil War, when confed. Gen Albert Pike thoroughly revamped it.

If Franklin was doing all of those bad things mentioned (occult, black masses, orgies), his spirit would not have been allowed into the Temple to appear to Wilford Woodruff, nor would he have been posthumously ordained a High Priest instead of an Elder - which is the norm for all proxy work. Heck, Martin Van Buren and James Buchanan were blocked for decades from getting their temple work done for their part in ignoring/oppressing the Saints - Franklin's alleged sins (from Alex Jones' take) are far more damning to an individual.

Likewise, if American Masonry was so evil at the time of Nauvoo, I strongly doubt that Joseph Smith or any other high-ranking LDS would have been in it long (except Bennett), Indeed, given as fast and as high as Joseph and the others are said to have risen through the ranks, Joseph would have detected the evils inherent rather quickly, and would have left the brotherhood on those grounds (if not commanded by God to stay away to begin with), instead of leaving because the IL lodge forced the LDS out primarily due to jealousy...

There would be no difference if the highly intellectual men were just as immoral and compromised as Bush, Kerry, etc....

Again, it goes back to one's perception of the Founding Fathers. Were they good men like Joseph and Hyrum Smith, or corrupt like Bush I, Clinton, Cheney, and Obama?

History pretty much aknowledges that Benjamin Franklin was quite the ladies man. While not as scary-looking as Rasputin he seemed to have that same charisma.

As for if Franklin was into wierd stuff and orgies who is to say for sure? The thing is that God judges the heart of people and the knowledge they have in this life, and decisions made in the next (influenced I am sure by their hearts in this life). Ever study the weird rites and rituals of ancient Egypt? Moses was in the highest levels of Egyptian politics and religion (the two in Egypt were not separated). He must have taken part in ceremonies that were pretty intense. Yet God knew his heart and made him one of the primary prophets. I will note that most of the secret societies of Franklin's time to the present are based on those of ancient Jerusalem to Egypt to Sumeria. And yes, even much of Washington, DC has a meaning beyond the beauty of architecure. The Washington Monument is the largest obelisk in the world. Want the more Freudian meaning? Look up its meaning to the Egyptians, particulary as it relates to Osiris, Isis and Set.

Humans are designed to have symbols and meanings. Sadly our modern society has replaced this void with brand names and idols of movie stars and the like. So no, I am not freaked out by Franklin dabling in things that many would consider off-limits today.

I think the other important aspect of Franklin is that whatever it was that he did, he repented of and accepted the gospel in the spirit world before he received the ordinances. Again, it just seems highly unlikely that he committed murder, if at all, as plenty of murderers are known to be left in a state of punishment for a really long time.
