Who needs coffee for these effects? We have marriage...

When the Lord gave us the Word of Wisdom he revealed to us the intentions of “conspiring men” who would exist in our day. Conspiring men today sell junk food, soda pop, energy drinks, alcohol, cocaine, marijuana, methyl amphetamines, etc. They endanger the health of their customers because of their love of money.

None of these things are actually good for us. Some of these products are rather mild while other destroy lives! My dad was an alcoholic for 30 years! I wish all of these things could be banned, but that would hamper our freedom to choose.

Members of the Church can argue for hours about what the Lord actually meant when he revealed the Word of Wisdom. Some members justify their consumption of caffeine. I’m not going to argue that issue one way or another.

I think that the Lord’s main purpose was to get the membership used to living a law of health and to be conscious about the greedy ambitions of evil conspiring men.

The Lord knew that the advanced technology of the latter-days would make these drugs more addictive than they naturally would be. He also knew that evil men would have automatic weapons and would kill anyone who stood in the way of their profit margin.

A member of the Church who faithfully lives the Word of Wisdom is demonstrating to the Lord that his or her heart is in the right place. Whenever we fail to live up to the Word of Wisdom we give financial support to evil men who care more about money than they do their fellow men.

It boils down to one thing. Do you support God’s Kingdom or Satan’s Kingdom? Are you a faithful member of the Lord's Church or just lukewarm?

Taste really is a subjective thing. Personally, I find that to me coffee smells like something that just crawled out of the ear of a roadkill deerthat's been laying on a Sanpete highway for two days in July.

Maintaining a temple recommend might be reason enough to avoid coffee for some.

I remember a time during the mission when we were offered coffee by investigators and I put my cup down. Their kids were about to drink coffee in the back, and i heard their mom say: Don't give them coffee, its bad for them!

It was a rather interesting lesson. Instead of the first discussion, we skipped over to the Word of Wisdom.

here the doctors will prohibit coffee and black drinks (their euphemism for Coca cola) for headaches, high pressure, or nervous breakdowns.
