From article...
It sounds outlandish now, but the United States went to war with Mormons in the late 1850s. United States troops descended on the Utah Territory in 1857 due to growing concerns about actions carried out by the religious group and worries of sedition.

Look at all the church had accomplished for the area and all of it was reversed by secret combinations.

Somethings I thought were note worthy:

1. BY talked of succession.
2. BY declared martial law.
3. BY reorganized the Nauvoo Militia.

Somethings the irked me:

1. JS died?! He was murdered!
2. The Church of Latter-day Saints.

IMHO, it goes to show how strong the hand of the Lord is in softening the hearts of the governments in which we live under. Not just the United States, but just the various nations in general in which the Church has a membership, many of which the church has an even more miniscule minority in the population of the nation than here in the U.S. (Russia and the E.U., to name a few). I mean, it's really worth thinking about, and being somewhat appreciative about.

@Ben McClintock, it's true that there's no reason to get comfortable and think the government is the same as trusting God, it's definitely not, but it's also important to really remain prayerful and not jump the gun in assuming how far the government has gone. I'm pretty sure if the time comes when the establishment of Zion (which would be treason, BTW) will happen, and that it will once again be a worldwide war between the church and the nations of the Earth, but I'm pretty sure God has a better understanding of the timing of it all than any of us do.
