I note that the text is not the second amendment however. The well regulated militia part was omitted.

That is true, but the "militia part" is explanatory, not limiting. The phrase on the tablets stands alone without the clarification: The right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.gkearney wrote:I note that the text is not the second amendment however. It's not saying you need to be a member of a militia to exercise that right.
