THANKS for comments; especially hyloglyph:
hyloglyph wrote:Sorry guys I am just now noticing this thread. Thanks Dr. Jones for all you have done to spread truth! Back in '07 I was just becoming aware of our awful situation, and I invited some people over to my house and together we watched one of your presentations on 9-11. Everyone that attended ending up sooner or later coming around to the cause of freedom and truth!
Both my aunt and uncle teach at BYU (physics and engineering depts), and have very nice things to say about you, even though they may not have had the guts to stick up for you when they should have. It is a shame and an embarrassment that the "Lord's University" could not stand up for truth, and in fact actually fought against it, when the opportunity arose to expose a part of the latter-day gadianton's plan.
Thanks Bro Jones! I suspect your efforts may have had even more impact than you know.
It is remarkable to me that SO MANY are now waking up, both inside the church and out, to our situation. And its not just 9/11 -- many are questioning such things as:
Monsanto and GMO foods
Big Pharma and flu shots
Big Bank bail-outs
Obamacare
The enormous and growing national debt
Attacks on the 1st (freedom of speech), 2nd (right to bear arms), and 4th amendments (freedom from unwarranted searches and seizures) -in the Bill of Rights
Attacks on the right to habeus corpus
Suppression of alternative energy research (although most are not so much aware of this, I find)
--whose side is the government on, anyway?

Forgiveness is divine. I suspect that before the great and last day, people will line up to apologize to Dr. Jones.

Thanks Dr. Jones for all your courageous work. You are an inspiration and a true patroit. May the Lord watch over you always.
I would like you all to know of a sacred experience I had one day while sitting in the temple. Since it comes as personal revelation to me I hesitate to share it but do so because it may strengthen others. I had been studying the 9/11 events quite a lot and troubled my wife quite a bit about what I had been learning. Of course no one wants to believe these things are possible in our beloved country. So while waiting for a session I was earnestly praying to know if the things I had been reading about 9/11 conspiracy were true and a scripture immediately popped into my mind. I don't know chapter and verse very well and so I had to search for it upon returning home. I didn't have the time while I was there. The words that came into my mind were: "Ye hear of wars in foreign lands but ye do not know the minds of men in your own land."
The Holy Ghost brought that to my remembrance and later I found it in D&C 38:29. So there you have it. I now know by revelation that these things are true. Bear in mind that no names of guilty parties were given to me. Just the scripture.
Peer reviewed scientific inquiry is one thing. But revelation is truth. It is how and why we are members of the LDS faith.

I GUESS it was a lot of factors:
1. GR pushed it. Remember to choose your wars and resource expenditure wisely.
2. Many at BYU accepted and believed the official story--internal pressure and contention resulted. Remember, brainwashing doesn't just come by pressure... ( I remember Rex Lee being all up on vaccines and how they got him to believe that).
3. Many donors called BYU and said they would stop donations unless Jones was FIRED.
No doubt those factors did have an influence on BYU's fuzzy decision. I say 'fuzzy' because they DID allow Dr. Jones to continue his research using equipment & facilities on campus. Glory be, for that!
I do recall that there was an online petition in support of Dr. Jones' 911 research and appealed directly to BYU to reconsider their position regarding his tenure at the university. There were 1,000's of signatures from all over the world supporting Dr. Jones; most from LDS with affiliation as BYU students, some current faculty, and former students & faculty. There was also room to post comments with one's signature. MANY vowed to stop alumni contributions and/or tithing in protest.
Most of us have had our faith tried by those in the Church who have 'authority over us'. Dr. Jones' trial was one of the worst about which I am aware. I know he loves the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that he is a righteous husband & father.
I have absolutely no doubt that Steven Jones will be among the exalted.
I don't mean it quite the way it was originally intended...but the expression, "
Living well is the best revenge.", has proven a useful adage when I have been misjudged and rudely treated by Church members who '
should know better'.
Matthew 8
7 ¶Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come * ; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
*Isn't that interesting? Could it be that expressly
because of the 'offences' perpetrated upon us by those acting under the influence of 'the natural man', we are given the opportunity to learn HOW to behave in an increasingly Christlike manner?
Romans 12
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Our responsibility is to recognize that the 'offense' comes from 'the natural man' rather than from the
Author & Finisher of Our Salvation.
So long as we continually seek and act upon counsel from our Creator, we can stand confidently before Him. No other opinion should dissuade us from continuance in seeking and living the TRUTH. (I am not saying this is an easy thing to do.)

Thanks, Buff-girl, very kindly stated.
I wish though to emphasize that I'm not perfect and just want to do the Lord's will in a quiet corner of earth's harvest field. Just a few months ago, Lezlee and I both felt after prayer that we should move out of Utah to NW Missouri. This has been quite a disruption in our lives, this move, and we are still in the midst of it. We have sold a home in Utah, packed up and are leaving Utah at this time. We used the proceeds to buy a home in NW Missouri this month. We still have more packing to do!
(No, I don't know all the reasons for the move; but three of our children are moving to NW Missouri -- two of them for employment reasons at least in part. )
We hope to serve meaningfully in the small branch here. (Small in numbers; huge in area!)
And I love the fact that we are so close to Adam-ondi-Ahman and not that far from the new temple in northern Kansas City. We plan excursions to Church history sites when it warms up; including Nauvoo.
