The Constitution, An Emphasis On Its Significance
Article VI of the Constitution:
This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding.
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution....

How does our President and his cronies get away with circumventing it?
How does the Supreme Court get away with doing the same thing?
How do they get away with it without charges against them?
Why does Congress, in many cases, sit on their laurels and ignore the Constitution while in session?
Why is it they do not feel bound to uphold and defend the Constitution as stated in their oath of office?
Worst yet, why does the public not hold them accountable for not doing so?
Why is the statement in the Declaration of Independence, stating we can as a public, rid ourselves of bad government and put in new guards not being addressed by any of the news media?
...whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence,...

To me it is extremely important that the Lord told us that He established the Constitution of this land by the hands of wise men whom He raised up unto that very purpose, and that it applies to all mankind and is meant to stand forever. And I feel like adding that if a great priesthood holder like Mitt Romney can ignore various provisions of the Constitution and still be supported by most LDS voters, just maybe we are now absolved from any responsibility to study it, uphold it, and abide by its principles.

So far I think this thread has been treated like it is some kind of plague. Or is it just easier to sit back and complain about government? Are there any persons wanting, yearning to learn what the Constitution is all about? Or are you going to be in the category that President Benson named as apathetic and asleep? The Constitution is our Standard of Liberty, given to us by God. Can we afford to treat it so lightly? Can we blatantly afford to allow our grandchildren be ruled over by socialists without any resistance because of carelessness?
Believe me, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but I'm giving it all I can to show Heavenly Father I care.

Freedomfighter, I appreciate your comments. We need to understand the constitution because there will come a day, in the very near future, when we will be holding it up as a standard to the nation. I believe that after our present government is cast down and “judgment is given to the Saints” as Daniel says, freedom loving people will seek to be associated with that millennial kingdom (which will be constitutional) and many will join the church.
The time for constitutional education among the Saints is getting short. Some of our greatest constitutional teachers such as Cleon Skousen and Stephen Pratt have fulfilled their mission and passed on. We are about to move on to the next phase, the cleansing. We won’t turn things around but we need to be as prepared for what’s coming. Just my two cents worth.

I believe when the flag is flown upside down it means our country is in distress-at least that what I read a few months back, I hope it's right..lol I agree we need to choose; we also need to pray to know what the Lord would have us do. It may be different for each individual and I do know the Lord knows our heart and how many of us want to fight to defend the Constitution. Thank you for your posts.

Take a look at this video, Michael covers it. Actually, all the segments teach us about the Constitution.
He states that most people in this country don't even know we live in a republic, not a democracy.
Do we know what an "Allodial Title" is? When we buy a home do we also own the land it sits on?
Do we know what a "Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin" is? Would you like to buy a car you don't have to pay taxes on, or register it?

Simply get a pocket size booklet containing the constitution and read a little at a time, or go to one of the links provided in this forum and spend a few minutes listening to someone teach about it. The left tries to use the Supremacy Clause as if it is a carte-blanche for the President to do whatever he wants.
Nothing could be further from the true meaning of the Supremacy Clause.
The Supremacy Clause actually upholds and reinforces the rest of the Constitution, including the entire Bill of Rights and the other amendments.
It says, in effect, that the Second Amendment is Supreme. It is higher, even, than the President and the Supreme Court.

The U.S. Constitution defines a system of Government, but it also includes, implicitly, a "Right To Revolution" ... a 'self-destruct mechanism' ... if you will. It is as if we, the People built a robot to serve us, but we knew, when we built it, that the robot might, someday, turn against us and try to enslave us or kill us. So, knowing that, we built a 'self-destruct' mechanism into the robot, which We, The People, control. It is called the Second Amendment. Without that 'self-destruct mechanism', the U.S. Government will continue to slide down the slippery slope of tyranny until the point when, not only gun rights, but also religion, fair trials, free press, and even the vote itself are abolished. That's where this administration is headed, and they have proven, during the election of 2012, that even the right to vote is not safe anymore.
When the federal government gets that far out of line, the only recourse left to the People is the implicit "Right To Revolution" which is embodied by the Second Amendment and reinforced by the writings of Thomas Jefferson and other anti-federalists.
In other words, Revolution is Legal! It is justified by the Constitution.
