Anyone remember party lines? One had to wait for someone they didn't even know before they could use the phone.

Silver bullet?

02. When the Beatles first came to the U.S. In early 1964, we all watched them on The Ed Sullivan Show. (I didn't, because we didn't have a tv, but I saw it on reruns a time or two.)

03. 'Get your kicks, on route 66.'

11. Some Americans who protested the Vietnam War did so by burning their______________.

12. The cute little car with the engine in the back and the trunk in the front was called the VW. What other names did it go by? bug & beetle.

13. In 1971, singer Don MacLean sang a song about, 'the day the music died.' This was a tribute to ___________________.

14. We can remember the first satellite placed into orbit. The Russians did it. It was called Sputnik.

15. One of the big fads of the late 50's and 60's was a large plastic ring that we twirled around our waist. It was called the hoola hoop.

DON'T LOOK BELOW FOR THE ANSWERS UNTIL YOU HAVE TRIED IT OUT. A TEST FOR 'OLDER' KIDS.

The above shows what answers I didn't remember. So I have the worst score so far. For 2 or 3 of them I knew I knew the answers but they just wouldn't surface. But I have to be honest about it.

I'm thinking this was part of a television series called "The Shadow" or something like that.

freedomfighter wrote:Does anyone remember what TV program played the first part of this piece at the beginning and the ending of the show?

The music is II Guarany. The program was Kennecott Neighborhood Theater, a two hour program on Sunday night from 8PM to 10PM. It ran for fifteen years from 1956 to 1971.

In the opening scenes one could see trucks hauling oar, dirt being blasted by dynamite and other operations going on at the mine. The music was played in sync with the dynamite going off...I was always fascinated by it.

Does anyone remember now?

I remember party lines. They left, in Salt Lake, in the late sixties or early seventies. When private lines began to come in, they cost more per month, so we stayed with party lines until we were told they didn't exist any longer.

I got my son a cap gun about ten years ago. I was surprised it was legal to sell them, considering our overprotective society. I wish I still had it, when I walk around and a dog starts trying to throw its weight around (they are supposed to be tied up or behind a fence, but they are not always). The sound scares dogs. And, I remember pounding the strips with a stone or a hammer.

I saw one once down in Emery county, UT. A guy had it in his front yard, he was using it as a lawn ornament. Pretty rusted up. I had seen everything from Brass bodied MG TDs to a few cars with no names that my grandfather kept around, but this one was new to me. I stopped and spoke with the guy that owned the lot. He said it was on the property when he bought the place so he dragged it out front and left it there.
