Excellent find, Col Flagg. Using Google-with earthquakes, I see nearly 50 quakes in this cluster, which does not appear to be on any fault line... very intriguing.

I went here to learn more: http://www.ceri.memphis.edu/seismic/recenteqs

But it would not open -- can anyone access the full list of EQ's (including small ones which for some reason the USGS is NOT showing this time)?

Either my neighbor was dynamiting his backyard, or an earthquake had come to town.
I knew right away it had to be a quake, but it was a little surreal. Was I being "Punk'd"? Was I on "Candid Camera"?
A house-shaking earthquake? This isn't San Francisco. This is Oklahoma, where earthquakes are mythical, discovered not by picture frames falling from the wall, but by information gleaned from computer screens.
Seismologists weren't needed Wednesday morning, other than to tell us how big this quake was. Turns out, it was a magnitude-5.1 at the epicenter southeast of Norman. The big ones in California in recent decades have been 6.7 and 6.9. Did all those Californians coming to Oklahoma in a "Grapes of Wrath" reverse migration bring their earthquakes with them?
I walked out of my office — I live in northeast Norman — and realized I had better look up. Make sure drywall or support beams weren't about to drop on my head. I walked outside, to see if neighbors were taking to the streets, which is what we seem to do in times of trouble. Streets were clear.
But soon enough the phone started ringing, and the stories started matching, and we all started wondering if we were living in ancient Egypt.
I mean, tornadoes and hail and blast-furnace heat, we've always had with us. But I've lived here half a century and hadn't experienced what's plagued us in recent years.
We had to cancel Christmas last year because of an epic snowstorm.
We had a 100-year flood in 2007, which swamped some houses in my neighborhood. Ice storms seem to hit every three weeks in the winter.
I don't remember ice storms as a kid. But now that's what we're known for. People who move to Oklahoma don't ask about dust storms anymore. They ask about ice storms.
What's going on? Are there some Israelites we need to free?
It could have been worse. My 4-year-old granddaughter contemplated the earthquake and said, "On 'The Land Before Time,' the earth cracked open. That was not good."
No holes in that theory.
Thunder coach Scott Brooks grew up in California and said quakes in Oklahoma don't worry him, but "I'm scared of tornadoes."
Earthquakes. Tornadoes. Drought. Heat wave. Winter storms. Oh well. Small price to pay to live in Oklahoma. By noon Wednesday, we had a pristine afternoon. Sunny skies, temperature about 70, the occasional leaf floating through the autumn air and house walls that had returned to their dignified pose of standing perfectly still.

Indonesia tsunami kills 23, leaves scores missing

Indonesia.Earthquake

JAKARTA, Indonesia — A powerful, 7.7-magnitude earthquake triggered a tsunami that pounded villages on remote islands off western Indonesia, killing at least 23 people and leaving more than 160 others missing, witnesses and officials said Tuesday.

The fault that ruptured Monday, running the length of the west coast of Sumatra island, also caused the 9.1-magnitude quake that unleashed a monster tsunami around the Indian Ocean in 2004, killing 230,000 people in a dozen countries.

The death toll from the quake late Monday, which struck 13 miles (20 kilometers) beneath the ocean floor, was expected to climb as reports on damage and injuries began trickling in Tuesday.

Mujiharto, who heads the Health Ministry's crisis center, said a 10-foot (three-meter) -high wave washed away hundreds of houses on Pagai and Silabu, part of the remote and sparsely populated Mentawai island chain.

"We have 200 body bags on the way, just in case," he said.

Separately on Tuesday, emergency officials were rushing to evacuate several thousand residents from the slopes of the country's most volatile volcano, Mount Merapi, as scientists warned that pressure building beneath its lava dome could trigger one of the most powerful blasts in years.

Thanks for the updates regarding this complex tragedy -- Earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruption.
Last days for sure...
CNN:
Jakarta, Indonesia (CNN) -- The Mount Merapi volcano in Indonesia erupted Tuesday, forcing thousands of nearby residents to flee, the Antara national news agency reported.
Mount Merapi, which looms on the horizon north of the major city of Yogyakarta, is one of Indonesia's most active volcanoes and lies in one of the world's most densely populated areas.
Some non-governmental relief agencies were poised to offer immediate help. One of them was World Vision Indonesia, a Christian relief and development agency.
"Right now, our biggest concern is the children," said Fadli Usman, World Vision Indonesia's rapid assessment team leader. "Children are always forgotten in the early moments of a disaster like this. My first task will be to assess the needs of the children and their families in the evacuation centers so our team can begin to help them."
Images on Indonesian TV showed the volcano lighting the sky with a fiery glow and sending thick clouds of gray smoke high into the air. The volcano has a summit elevation of nearly 10,000 feet (3,000 meters).

Hi All:

Look at this impressive series of "earthquakes"
ongoing in Yemen over the last 24 hours. And
there's absolutely NOTHING in the news about
them so far.

A very ominous sign, especially since Yemen
is now the most likely site from which it is
believed that a nuclear terrorist attack against
the US could be launched in the very near future.

Al Quaeda allegedly has one or more tactical
nuclear weapons (the size a suicide bomber
would use to take out a city) stored in Yemen.

So are these really earthquakes going on, or
something else? I think we'll find out VERY
shortly!
