It's been downgraded to 6.9, and so far there are no reports of deaths. And there are no reports of tsunami waves greater than one meter, so thankfully this is insignificant compared to the quake five years ago.Lexew1899 wrote:A big 7.3 earthquake in Japan near Fukushima today...

Magnitude 7.7 earthquake hits off Chilean coast
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake occurred off the coast of southern Chile Sunday, 40 km (about 25 miles) southwest of Puerto Quellon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center had issued a tsunami threat message for parts of the Pacific Ocean close to the earthquake; by 10:30 a.m. ET the center said the threat had passed.
A "state of precaution" that had been issued for the region of Los Lagos has been lifted, according to the Chilean Navy Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service.
And Chile's Ministry of the Interior and Public Security canceled the tsunami evacuation for the beach areas near the quake zone.
Shortly after the quake hit, Chilean President Michelle Bachelet posted a tweet expressing support to the people of her country.
"Much strength and mood to the compatriots affected by the earthquake in Chile and other areas of the south! Emergency protocols are already operating," Bachelet tweeted.

Don't think this was the Christmas present people in Chile were looking for!M7.6 - 39km SSW of Puerto Quellon, Chile
2016-12-25 14:22:27 UTC 43.416°S 73.880°W 34.6 km depth
The December 25, 2016, M 7.6 earthquake occurred as the result of shallow thrust faulting in southern Chile. At the location of this earthquake, the oceanic Nazca plate converges with and subducts beneath the South America plate in an east-northeast direction, at a rate of approximately 73 mm/yr. The earthquake location, depth and shallow thrusting focal mechanism solution, all indicate this earthquake likely occurred on the subduction zone interface.

Looking at raw data I don't even see 30 earthquakes greater than or equal to 5.0 in the last seven days. Where are the other 227?JohnnyL wrote:http://truththeory.com/2016/12/26/257-e ... gy-influx/

My cousin lives in Soda Springs and felt that one. There's a couple new aftershocks every hour with 24 quakes in the swarm at the time I posted this.Kaarno wrote: ↑September 2nd, 2017, 9:18 pm 2 in 2 hours in northern Utah southern Idaho. More interesting with the latest swarm at Yellowstone.

I am waiting to see if hurricane Irma, makes landfall next week and at what strength, lots of disasters around the world, Australia is in the process of a major drought potential. Time will tell if the SLC EQ start this year, I am also expecting the economy to crash shortly. I think we need to take these things as a warning and pray for guidance.Kaarno wrote: ↑September 2nd, 2017, 9:18 pm 2 in 2 hours in northern Utah southern Idaho.
