Mr. Romney is a worthy priesthood holder.
We are commanded to righteously judge others, from church leaders and members to politicians, by using the Spirit, the scriptures and the person's fruits.

Joseph Smith changed 'judge not' to 'judge not unrighteously'. So 'stop it' does not apply to 'judging', as long as we do it righteously.

Just because Mr. Romney was ordained to the Priesthood at one time, doesn't mean he is now a Priesthood 'holder'.

Only righteous living and 'honoring the Constitution' can maintain his Priesthood.

But I just can't believe that the Brethren would support him and want him to win, if they understand the Constitution, even if it did lead to more baptism. For I believe it would be worse spiritually for those who voted for him, and the Church and country.

So why would they support him and want him to win and help him to do so, by 1- giving him tons of publicity in the church owned and Brethren controlled Deseret News, which one source says the Brethren intentionally do?

I note that Mitt Romney and others running for Congress are starting to throw the word Constitution around like they think they understand it and intend to be guided by it. Be thou not deceived. We/They should support only initiatives, programs and legislation that square with the US Constitution and ALSO support the God given rights that apply to all people as long as a right does not interfere with a God-given right of another person, or does not force another person to meet the needs of someone else. Let's get the actual concept of "judging" out of the way.

For instance, Mitt Romney is a member of the church = a righteous judgement.
Mitt Romney is a priesthood holder = another righteous judgement.
Mitt Romney is evil (having no foundational proof) = an unrighteous judgement.
Mitt Romney is a flip-flopper = history proves that this is true = a righteous judgement.
Mitt Romney is a creep = an unrighteous judgement.
Mitt Romney is a good man but many of his actions stink = a righteous judgement.
Even though Mitt Romney has a good record as a family man, church callings and good with numbers, because of his flip-flopping and lack of Constitutional adherence I don't think he would make a good President = a righteous judgement.

Judge not the man, judge his works. We cannot simply ignore one's works when bad works can adversely affect the whole country. If wavering works is not good for the country then do not vote for that man. Judge and see if someone else can and will do the job as the Founders intended.

The read the letter from the 1st Pesidency second time today in Sacrament Meeting . Did that last week too. The problem is there is no one who meets the requirements they ask for who is running for President on the ballot for November. So I squirm.

And how soon we forget we have others who profess to be Mormons (and Elders) who are actively working against the Constitution (i.e.harry reid for example).

And what would it take to flood HR with emails, letters and whatever, and reeducate him about what his values ought to be? Especially from an LDS stance.

One of our Arizona state legislators suggested to an area seventy a few years ago that they stop reading that letter lest more Mormons out and vote in ignorance and make things worse.

I really wonder if anyone here understands the ramifications of a second Obama term in this mans quest to totally transform this country. I think this article touches the surface but still may not go far enough in explaining what this man is capable of doing to this nation. If he is re-elected we will find out soon enough. It may be more of a nightmare than anyone here could ever imagine. Romney may end up looking like George Washington in comparison to what Obama has planned for the next 4 years. :-ss

Obama's Second Term Transformation Plans

The 2012 election has often been described as the most pivotal since 1860. This statement is not hyperbole. If Barack Obama is re-elected the United States will never be the same, nor will it be able to re-capture its once lofty status as the most dominant nation in the history of mankind.

The overwhelming majority of Americans do not understand that Obama's first term was dedicated to putting in place executive power to enable him and the administration to fulfill the campaign promise of "transforming America " in his second term regardless of which political party controls Congress. That is why his re-election team is virtually ignoring the plight of incumbent or prospective Democratic Party office holders.

The most significant accomplishment of Obama's first term is to make Congress irrelevant. Under the myopic and blindly loyal leadership of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, the Democrats have succeeded in creating an imperial and, in a second term, a potential dictatorial presidency.

During the first two years of the Obama administration when the Democrats overwhelming controlled both Houses of Congress and the media was in an Obama worshipping stupor, a myriad of laws were passed and actions taken which transferred virtually unlimited power to the executive branch.

The birth of multi-thousand page laws was not an aberration. This tactic was adopted so the bureaucracy controlled by Obama appointees would have sole discretion in interpreting vaguely written laws and enforcing thousands of pages of regulations they and not Congress would subsequently write.

For example, in the 2,700 pages of ObamaCare there are more than 2,500 references to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. There are more than 700 instances when he or she is instructed that they "shall" do something and more than 200 times when they "may" take at their sole discretion some form of regulatory action. On 139 occasions, the law mentions that the "Secretary determines." In essence one person, appointed by and reporting to the president, will be in charge of the health care of 310 million Americans once ObamaCare is fully operational in 2014.

The same is true in the 2,319 pages of the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Act which confers nearly unlimited power on various agencies to control by fiat the nation's financial, banking and investment sectors. The bill also creates new agencies, such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, not subject to any oversight by Congress. This overall process was repeated numerous times with other legislation all with the intent of granting unfettered power to the executive branch controlled Barack Obama and his radical associates.

Additionally, the Obama administration has, through its unilaterally determined rule making and regulatory powers, created laws out of whole cloth. The Environmental Protection Agency on a near daily basis issues new regulations clearly out of their purview in order to modify and change environmental laws previously passed and to impose a radical green agenda never approved by Congress. The same is true of the Energy and Interior Departments among many others.

None of these extra-constitutional actions have been challenged by Congress. The left in America knows this usurpation of power is nearly impossible to reverse unless stopped in its early stages.

It is clearly the mindset of this administration and its appointees that Congress is merely a nuisance and can be ignored after they were able to take full advantage of the useful idiots in the Democrat controlled House and Senate in 2009-2010 and the Democrat Senate in the current Congress.

Additionally, Barack Obama knows after his re-election a Republican controlled House and Senate will not be able to enact any legislation to roll back the power previously granted to the Executive Branch or usurped by them. His veto will not be overridden as there will always be at least 145 Democratic members of the House or 34 in the Senate in agreement with or intimidated by an administration more than willing to use Chicago style political tactics.

The stalemate between the Executive and Legislative Branches will inure to the benefit of Barack Obama and his fellow leftists.

The most significant power Congress has is the control of the purse-strings as all spending must be approved by them. However, once re-elected, Barack Obama, as confirmed by his willingness to do or say anything and his unscrupulous re-election tactics, would not only threaten government shutdowns but would deliberately withhold payments to those dependent on government support as a means of intimidating and forcing a Republican controlled Congress to surrender to his demands, thus neutering their ability to control the administration through spending constraints.

Further, this administration has shown contempt for the courts by ignoring various court orders, e.g. the Gulf of Mexico oil drilling moratorium, as well as stonewalling subpoenas and requests issued by Congress. The Eric Holder Justice Department has become the epitome of corruption as part of the most dishonest and deceitful administration in American history. In a second term the arrogance of Barack Obama and his minions will become more blatant as he will not have to be concerned with re-election.

Who will be there to enforce the rule of law, a Supreme Court ruling or the Constitution? Nobody; Barack Obama and his fellow-travelers will be unchallenged as they run roughshod over the American people.

Many Republicans and conservatives dissatisfied with the prospect of Mitt Romney as the nominee for president are instead focused on re-taking the House and Senate. That goal, while worthy and necessary, is meaningless unless Barack Obama is defeated. The nation is not dealing with a person of character and integrity but someone of single-minded purpose and overwhelming narcissism. Judging by his actions, words and deeds during his first term, he does not intend to work with Congress either Republican or Democrat in his second term but rather to force his radical agenda on the American people through the power he has usurped or been granted.

The governmental structure of the United States was set up by the founders in the hope that over the years only those people of high moral character and integrity would assume the reins of power. However, knowing that was not always possible, they dispersed power over three distinct and independent branches as a check on each other.

What they could not imagine is the surrender and abdication of its constitutional duty by the preeminent governmental branch, the Congress, to a chief executive devoid of any character or integrity coupled with a judiciary essentially powerless to enforce the law when the chief executive ignores them

Conservatives, Libertarians, the Republican Party and Mitt Romney must come to grips with this moment in time and their historical role in denying Barack Obama and his minions their ultimate goal. All resources must be directed at that end-game and not merely controlling Congress and the various committee chairmanships.

I think rather than voting based on fear mongering that we should follow the commandment of the Lord to seek good, wise and just men who will uphold the Constitution as it was understood by those who wrote it.

I am more than willing to overlook the many bad positions of the past, and the flip flops that occurred at exactly the timing needed to always further his political career.
It is his CURRENT stated positions that are unacceptable.

He accepts the concept of pre-emptive war as correct.
He supports indefinite detention without trial of U.S. citizens at the discretion of the president. Goodbye habeus corpus.
He believes that the president has the authority to declare war without approval from Congress.

These are not minor nitpicks. This is an axe laid at the root of the Tree of Liberty. This is the severing of the threadby which the Constitution hangs, if it isn't already severed.

Romney's supporters NEVER address these issues, and only accuse those with legitimate concerns of repeating media lies about Romney.

If Romney repudiates these above positions before the election, publicly, I am willing to accept that he means what he says and he will have my vote. Not before, barring direct revelation that i should.
For those who are cheerleading for Romney, either put up or shut up. Address the above three issues and either reconcile them to the constitution, or explain that they are not Romney's positions. NOT ACCEPTABLE is some fairy tale that Mitt is just taking those positions to trick the puppet masters into allowing him to be president. No. Sorry. That's a starry-eyed wishful thinking theory AT BEST. Let's keep it real. Don;t tell me about him being a priesthood holder or a great dad. Address the three above issues and tell me why they are not DEAL BREAKERS. And if the best you can do is wail about how horrible an Obama 2nd term would be (I agree, but doesn't legitimize supporting a lesser of two evils candidate) don't bother - been hearing that for over a year. I will vote for a candidate that meets the qualifications the Lord has set, and Mitt currently does not. Not even close.

There is an area where I believe the 2 men and those who these men would choose to surround themselves with are far apart and are in fact at opposite ends of the spectrum. This is the area that our Prophets have stressed in every conference this church has held since its inception. It is the fundamental basis for a free society. I think our 2nd President John Adams summed it up nicely when he said:
"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion . . . Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
The Continental Congress of 1778 stated:
"Whereas true religion and good morals are the only solid foundations of public liberty and happiness . . . it is hereby earnestly recommended to the several States to take the most effectual measures for the encouragement thereof."
Now I do not like a lot of the positions that Mitt Romney has taken politically and I do hope that he will change many of those positions to reflect a more constitutional approach. However when it comes to this issue of morality and virtue and religion I do see a huge difference between a Romney administration and an Obama administration. Obama and those whom he has surrounded himself with has shown a disdain for Christian morality in many critical areas and has in fact emulated more of a communist mindset that is in fact an enemy to righteousness and true Christian principles. If you guys can't see the difference between these 2 in this critical area you are not looking very hard.

It is a shame that the Constitution was all that the founding fathers could get passed and not a more righteous government based on the Gospel and laws of Christ.

The founders apparently knew that the Constitution wouldn't hold any peace for long, since the majority of society is rarely righteous.

And it's too bad that much earlier the pilgrims didn't set up a righteous government when they first got here, based on the Gospel, which could have kept wickedness in check.

For I agree with the above statement, that true religion is the only government that can secure public liberty and happiness.

I believe when Christ comes he will establish his laws as the standard of society and that is why we will finally have peace.

Mark..I hear truth in the words you speak. Thank-you

"Mitt Romney has flaws as a candidate. We all know that. Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich, and especially Obama have obvious flaws.

In Mitt Romney's case it seems conspicuous virtue is now a serious–perhaps fatal–handicap in American electoral politics.
You people seem to love kicking him, or seeing him beat up.

In a society that assumes equality–that we're all basically the same–Mitt Romney just stands a little too tall and straight. And that is why members of the media, his fellow candidates, and a large swath of his party cannot conceal their glee watching him taken down a peg.

It would be better for him if he was cheating on his taxes a little.

Umm Sister Awake I believe you are referring to a theocracy here. It works well in a Zion society but was not appropriate at the time of the founding of this country. The constitution and the Bill of Rights was exactly what the Lord inspired the founders to draw up. No more. No less.

If you guys can't see the difference between these 2 in this critical area you are not looking very hard.

Mark, question... did you click on the link and read it? What do you think about it?

I think it's extremely obvious. A vote for Mitt is a vote for Obama in the end. After you clear away all the mainstream media talking points and their campaign speeches and baloney rhetoric, you'll find out that on every major issue, they are in agreement. The only thing different is their rhetoric.

Choose the right, let the consequences follow! la la la la lalalala laaaaaaa.

Also, Mark, it seems like you may have skipped over the original post in this thread... c'mon... be honest... did you?

I would like to think that voting for the right, even if I vote for someone not on the ballot, that instead of my vote being wasted, as some suppose and declare, God takes it and puts it in His notebook. Therefore, it is not wasted at all.

Just look how many people consider Mitt Romney worthy of our votes in spite of his disdain for moral and constitutional principles.

It's funny.
I have some hard-core leftist establishment buddies that are really political on the internet that have so much in common with the right-wing establishment goons here:
They both use fear mongering as the main point of why we should elect "their guy"
They both admit "their guy" isn't perfect.
They both look to the government as the answer to issues that the government has no ability or power to solve.
In reality both sides serve the same agenda.
Growth of Government.
