Does BYU create doctrine??!

Post by Stephen »

I stumbled across this and thought it interesting...and truthful.

One thing I will say is that the CES teaching manuals are excellent. I have never found them to be anything other than the scriptures and the words of the prophets...not a mans interpretation of those things. CES instructors are also consistently reminded to only teach from what I will call "valid" sources.

Is there even any tweaking anymore? I just don't think there is any NEW doctrine. Hmmm.... Could that be because we aren't reading the doctrine laid before us in the first place???

Undoubtedly so. That, and maybe the rest of the doctrine is to come after Joseph Smith is resurrected.

Heaven help us if they are. BYU hasn't been exactly batting 1000 in my book.

But, this is how all the other organized religions have gone. A professional clergy develops that makes intellectual commentary on doctrine. They are the "learned."

sorry state of affairs in my opinion.
