I have a question to the brethren who do not wear ties, wear colored shirts, what do you think or feel when going to the temple?

Of course wearing a white shirt/tie is not a commandment (how many times must that be said?). Of course she has not demanded that other mothers dress their boys in white shirts and ties, though she feels that would probably be a good idea. Of course it would be fair and "Christian" to respect her decision as the boys' mother rather than to rain ridicule on her (are there any real Christians out there?).

Some folks have run off the rails over this issue, going so far as to accuse Juliette of everything from bigotry to brutality (or something like unto it). Isn't it time to give it a rest? Seriously?
Some people disagree in varying degrees, or simply have different preferences, and that's fine, but you're pulling out accusations that don't even exist! I just searched through this entire discussion and the only one using the word "bigotry" is you.
Do you suppose there are synonyms for "bigotry"? Indeed there are. And didn't I include the phrase or like unto it? Indeed I did.

We have been counseled to go to the temple in the same attire we would go to sacrament in. I do wear a white shirt when going to the temple only because I am lazy and since the white shirt is required there is no sense in packing two shirts. In the future I may invest in a jumpsuit which I've seen some of the older gentlemen wear in the endowment in which case I would have no reservations about wearing a colored shirt so long that it is a "dress shirt"

I also wear cowboy boots which some people may find offensive but since I wear white socks I think cowboy boots look nicer than looking at white socks when I sit down.

On a side note relating to my previous post I find it funny that the brethren do not find it wise or nessasry to give counsel on certain subjects but many other Church members do :)
Hence the thread title :)?

It really is amazing just what some people consider to be their business, and how extreme they'll become in pursuing it. Find someone like that, and it's a good bet they're neither a true Christian nor a lover of freedom.

Thank you for your answer Wolfman :) Where I live many priesthood holders wear their cowboy boots shined up and all at church and entering the temple:) love cowboy boots :)
But let me ask you, would it not be easier to follow the modern day prophet as to what to wear and how to wear? ( hair ) If the GA is bald then why not follow the example of a GA with hair :)

Real estate scams are prohibited under the commandments to not bear false witness and to not steal. All of these are heavy, serious prohibition commandments contained largely in the Decalogue. Wearing a white shirt is not a commandment any where in the scriptures nor has it been commanded by a prophet. So yes it is nothing. Good grief did you really condemn some one as a "tare" because of the color of their shirt? On one particular day for a block of time for three hours?

Hey blue I had nothing to do with attacking Juliette. I was simply replying to a quote that equated the not wearing of a white shirt to church with that of not keeping serious commandments. I didn't make that leap. Just responding to it.

Clarification: White shirt mandatory for missionary service, recommended when officiating in the ordinance of the sacrament, nothing stated as to what to "wear to church" for the masses.

No it wouldn't be easier to shave your head, it would be easier to do nothing and let your hair and beard grow. :)

Several weeks ago I was told to my face by the Young Women's president who has a son several months older than my eldest. "I would rather he not attend if he is not going to wear a white shirt."
You should have forthrightly dismissed the comment by the Young Women's president She has no authority over your son; in fact, she has no overarching authority over the members of the ward--only the bishop has that.
: So there you have it. It is a prevalent attitude in my ward. At least 3 people have either dropped a white shirt off at my door, offered to purchase, or offered to lend.
Some members in leadership positions make mistakes. They, as with all of us, are works in progress.
: Some months ago, in my presence, the Bishop sat my son down and told him that the regional representative has made the demand for a white shirt, and would he please be obedient for obedience sake. (I was not aware of Handbook 2's statements at the time). My son is barred from passing the sacrament, but sets up and breaks down each Sunday.
I think that's very unfortunate. I suggest you write a letter to the regional representative citing the statement in the handbook and telling him that the bishop has prohibited your son from passing the sacrament. I would send a copy to the stake president and the bishop. I'm quite sure sparks would fly.
: He gets it. Not doctrinal. At this point, I wonder if he just likes that blue shirt and tie because it makes them all squirm.
That's a possibility.
: He is a great kid.
I don't doubt that. Obviously, you're an excellent mother.
