LDSSymbols.com is here!

Introducing the beta version of LDSSymbols.com! This is a personal initiative that I have been working on for a few years now. The purpose of the site is to increase literacy in LDS Symbology. I will continually add symbols as I see fit moving forward but for now, I have 20 of the more core elements uses on temples and in scripture.
It's all free, no strings attached. Enjoy.

Nice! Sempiternal Harbinger could help you with symbology. I'm finding the symbology on the SLC temple extremely fascinating, particularly the Saturn symbol.

Re: LDSSymbols.com is here!
Always willing to get more information from the masses. Right now, I've tried to keep everything somewhat loose and very archetypal. I'd like to keep it simple enough that small children can understand it. Eventually, I'll add more quotes and photos, etc. where appropriate. The idea is to give people a starting point to beginning to understand the core alphabet the Lord uses and give people a springboard into learning more.
I'd like to have a library of books to recommend in the future as well. I already have several good ones in mind

liberty...did you mean Anthony E. Larson? I bought this book at DI and its take on Saturn/Mars was pretty interesting.liberty_belle wrote:Coach have you read any of Steve Larson's books or visited his website. Re: LDSSymbols.com is here!
I noticed that most of the pentagrams in the pictures are "point side up" and in fact I think the ones that are point side down are stars, not pentagrams. There may be an exception or two.
My understanding is that there is a difference between a pentagram and an inverted pentagram.

Re: LDSSymbols.com is here!
It is a pentagram is still a pentagram no matter what direction it is pointing, just like a hexagram and an octagram. In LDS symbology, five-pointed stars are only upside-down at certain points. From what I have observed, a star is only inverted when it is meant to represent the planet Venus (i.e: Jesus Christ as the day star) which appears to be a star in the sky, but it is not. The downward pointing star indicates that it reflects its light toward the earth. The pentagram means something completely different in an LDS context.
In 1855, Eliphas Lévi was the first person to ever assign evil meaning to an inverted pentagram for his own purposes. All symbols belong to God and all have a proper place in truth. Satan can only utilize the symbols that are already there to communicate his own meanings. Joseph Smith had pentagrams designed into the Nauvoo temple 14 years before Lévi ever wrote his book “Transcendental Magic”.
