Hello from Wisconsin...

Post by Kandeep »

Hi all,

I'm a member of the church, born and raised. I've been married for going on 13 years to a wonderful man. I have 5 children. I'm a SAHM, an RM and I'm having doubts. I need some strengthening... and it's been hard to get to church. Health reasons preclude me from getting there every Sunday.... which doesn't help. I have no desire to leave the church. I could have a Temple Recommend in hand if I felt I could answer the "do you believe in the restoration of the Gospel?" I let my recommend lapse because of my doubts. The whole "God will not be mocked" makes me feel I need to know first and my Bishop agrees. He asked me to look for people who could help me, since he feels he cannot. I have a depth of understanding from my years of being in the church and being raised by a Institute Director, I think that intimidates him. He's a sincere and devote man with a sweet simple faith which I greatly admire... so here I am. Looking for help. Since this is just the intro... I'll post my concerns in another more appropriate thread.

In all honesty, get as far away from this forum as you can! This is not the place for a LDS with a shakey testimony. There are far too many apostates and naysayers here who have the full intention of causing doubt and will steer you in the wrong direction. Just a little peice of advice. Look to other means. Good luck!

I too second that... Welcome!

(P.S. there will be those who will warn you that I am one of those ' many apostates and naysayers here'. They do not see that my wish is not to push a person out of his/her lifeboat into the water when they cannot swim. I wish to talk with those looking to learn to swim or like swimming and to see that they do not need that lifeboat.)

Shalom

There aren't really many in the form of genuine apostates here, but there are plenty who do not believe the brethren to be infallible. Perhaps some are a little too vocal about it - and the words are often misunderstood to mean apostasy and brethren-bashing, when that (as far as I can tell) is not the intent.

Welcome, Kandeep, and pls let us know on this thread when you post your "concerns in another more appropriate thread" that perhaps we may help in some way.

My question to folks in this position, would be -- how strong is your foundation and on what does it rest?
In particular, do you have a testimony that the Book of Mormon truly contains the words of Jesus Christ?
I would probably start there.
