Hello everybody,
I hope all of you have a good Sunday.

This morning, during the Sunday School, we have read the 15th chapter of Mosiah and I was like "what ?"...
Is anybody there who can explain me Mosiah 15:1-4 (http://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/mosi ... 4?lang=eng" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) ?
The Christ is both the Father and the Son ? Oo ?!

Thanks you for all your help.

Abinadi expounded it beautifully and it is alluded to throughout the Book of Mormon. There is only one God and one Son of God as Joseph Smith plainly witnessed in his first vision. The Son of God, Jesus Christ, who is Jehovah, condescended to become our Savior. We are His seed when we become His covenant people through the gospel of repentance and baptism and thus become His children through the Atonement and thus He becomes our Father.

Edit: further clarification...

1 And now Abinadi said unto them: I would that ye should understand that God himself shall come down among the children of men, and shall redeem his people.

2 And because he dwelleth in flesh he shall be called the Son of God, and having subjected the flesh to the will of the Father, being the Father and the Son—

3 The Father, because he was conceived by the power of God; and the Son, because of the flesh; thus becoming the Father and Son—

4 And they are one God, yea, the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth.

When Abinadi is speaking of God in verse 1, he is referring to Jehovah, who is Jesus Christ. Verse two is where he begins to distinguish how a son is subject to a father like I would be subject to my dad. As the flesh, or in other words, the mortal Christ, he becomes subject to the will of the Father, being Jehovah. And verse three explains how it is so. Verse four indicates their unity. Even all of us as members should be one. Not one big lump of flesh, but united in purpose. Now wrap all this up as God being Jesus Christ, who is Jehovah, who is called God, just like His own Father in heaven who is our father in heaven, the father of our spirits.

There is one Godhead (the Apostle Paul's term IIRC), comprised of three separate individuals, three persons. They are 100% united in purpose and in desire to bless mankind, encouraging men and women to repent and to come unto Christ.

When you are born again, you get ANOTHER new father! :ymhug: I also remember somewhere in Alma 30:60
60 And thus we see the end of him who perverteth the ways of the Lord; and thus we see that the devil will not support his children at the last day, but doth speedily drag them down to hell.
So it appears who we chose to follow, we become, at least in a sense, the spiritual children of.

For anyone wishing to dig a little deeper and prayerfully, here's a great commentary with a chart (about halfway down) that may help you to visualize the distinctions:

Abinadi's Commentary on Isaiah.
