Ya, it was pretty funny when he told them read the Book of Mormon the way he did, and the pearls before swine comment was great too.

Not to be cynical but is this exactly what JFS said not to do?

Nah, he said not to cast peals before swine. Present it to the whole world and preach this. It's not something for Sunday school or even priesthood class, though it's interesting how many strange ideas people come up with in these classes to try and explain away just such a concept. That said it is not secret and you actually have to go looking to find it, even on the net (here for example). Just a little bit of study in the scriptures and this should be obvious anyways. How could the messiah who needed baptism to fulfill all righteousness not need to be sealed??? How could he, the only perfect one, need vicarious work done for him? The thought makes reason stare.
Oh and thanks for collecting and putting all that stuff up by the way

I already knew this for a very very long time. Somehow the topic came up with a missionary a couple months ago and he was like WHAT? So I had to teach him this truth. I told him not to teach this to new investigators of course but that it was for his own study and reflection.
Once I gave a simple answer to the second coming and gave what I thought many there already knew about the second coming. I had two people approach me after the class and ask me for more information on the subject. I was really surprised.
One thing I do know, 50% of what I know about the church has come by reading what others have written. (Apostles, prophets past presidents and some good intentioned members.) The gold standard is of course the scriptures and they are of course the standard to keep us on a foundation of rock or rather Christ should be our rock and is. However, I have a mind to understand more than just what the gospel essential book gives us, which by the way give us a lot if you read it carefully.
I heed the warning also that intellectuals tend to stop following the prophet when they think they are learned. I can assure you I am no where near that type of thinking. I wish I could learn at the feet of the prophets more often and not just at GC, which are excellent sources of light. I would like to be one of those that hears off the record comments like those recorded about JS that the 10 tribes are on a planet next to a star that JS pointed out. Are you kidding me, how amazing that is.

I agree, rather I should have said snarky

I've never understood what the big deal is about Jesus having been married. I think religiously speaking many people are 6 years old knowing that the baby came from mommy's tummy but never questioning how it came to be there. One day we'll get the full birds and the bees talk and probably be just as shocked as when we found out where babies really come from

Sorry that was the best analogy that I could think of on the fly.

Ditto. Jesus obeyed
all of God's commandments, not just those that would not freak out a future celibate clergy. Also, He was human in every sense of the word, as far as anyone could see. The only things He did that set Him apart were the healings He did, and the fact that He didn't bow down to the laws/opinions of the religious hierarchy of the time.

I had a bishop once ask me when I was a young adult if I thought Jesus was married and if the thought bothered me. I told him I had never thought about it before but it seemed very logical to me. I am quite sure he was. I have to say I wouldn't want to be married to someone that is always right. Imagine if there is a disagreement you are always wrong.

) That's very cute. But then again, very soon, you would know everything!

Or if you were very wise there would never be disagreements.
