Hello, folks.
I'm a second-generation Latter-day Saint. My dad was contacted by a senior missionary couple while he was wrestling a dryer out of the back of his El Camino in the rain...and now he and my mother and all of their nine kids are solid in the Church.
I was born and raised in the Houston area, and I'm currently majoring in English and Chinese at BYU.
I feel that I have a healthy combination of both distaste for politics and realization of the importance of political issues.
So here I am.

Welcome! You look a ton like a friend of mine from my mission in Philly. At any rate glad to have you aboard.

Yes welcome...
I read on another thread that you support Mitt. I look forward to wrapping my brain around why that's the case, but I promise I won't be a nag.
We always make the most progress here when someone challenges us anyhow, so I hope you will and maybe we can learn something from each other.

I supported Mitt when I came here too.
It was nice to have people ask me questions and make me take a good look at myself. And my own contradictions, like supporting the constitution, but also being for pre-emptive war, ridding us of all jihadists, and discovering a modern Captain Moroni...
I hope that you can continue this journey LOL I like the Creed you posted already.
I saw a video on the home page by Bro. Pratt, and that is what made me change my position on voting for the lesser of two evils. I thought that I had to choose who could win out of those two. I was naive, knew nothing about the primaries, or the delegates or who really chooses nominees, but now, I am thankful I found this site, and connected with other Constitution lovers, and woke up!

If I thought Ron Paul was better than Romney, I would be supporting him--regardless of what current polls show.
But I just don't think that's the case. He is right on a few key issues, but, as with so many political ideologues, he would simply make a terrible leader. He has no clue about how to be diplomatic, and he oversimplifies everything. (Like what to do now in Iraq, as I've already mentioned.)
Mitt is the kind of guy who picks two important battles to fight and wins them. Ron is the type of guy who will try to fight every single issue tooth-and-nail--losing every time.
Like I've said...Mitt is not ideal, but he is competent. He may not be the great messiah of conservatism, but he is also not its destroyer. He will do a lot to fix the economy, fight the most important battles of social conservatism, and NOT screw up royally by making brash decisions--such as leaving the UN.
Regardless of what he says, Paul's radical isolationist philosophies are NOT part of this nation's founding statutes, and they are not wise.
(Okay...I think that's all I'm going to badmouth Paul for now.)

On the contrary I think Ron Paul's policy ideals fit perfectly with D&C 98 which is THE authoritative declaration on the matter.

I've followed Ron Paul for most of his 19+ years in Congress. I blieive he is non-interventioninst, not isolationist, as the media is painting him.

I prefer to steady our nation's boat over rocking the boats of other nations.
Our boat is getting pretty bashed, needs some restoration. We go and bang around on our neighbors boats, and they are likely to smash ours.

I think you will find most of us here think Romney is constitutionally illiterate compared to RON PAUL, based on historical record.
Example of leadership in continuance with a fraudulent system that needs addressed is not my idea of genuine leadership. but thats my opinion that perhaps we should discuss in another thread?
