Turning Problems over to God

When I say to myself that I am going to turn all my problems over to God, this does not give me leave to shirk my responsibilities. I have been given certain tools with which to run my life, and the free will to use them. They include judgment, intelligence, good will and the power to reason. Perhaps much of my trouble stems from having misused these tools. Judgment may have been warped by resentment, my intelligence by failure to face issues honestly. God’s will can be lost when we are unable to be tolerant of the faults of others. The power to reason can be dulled when we fail to detach ourselves from the emotional content of a problem.

When I am desperate enough to ask for help, I will not expect it to come in the form of easy solutions. I must play a part in solving my problems, but God will provide the guidance and the strength to take the right action.

“I pray for the wisdom to understand my difficulties clearly and honestly, and for the strength to do something constructive about them. I know I can count on God’s help in this.”

And when we turn our problem over to HF and pray at times the answer we get isn't always the answer we want. It also takes trusting in HF that he knows what's best even when you think he is so very wrong.

And He has also promised that He will allow no trial to be so great we cannot bear it and that He will provide a means of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). By this, He means that He will not let us fall, as He promised in Psalm 55:22.

Have you had trials you felt were more that you could bear? In spite of this promise?
At the time of the trial, I was upset that I would even be asked to bear such a hardship. In retrospect, I could see my HF's hand in helping me through it.
I love the song " I walk by Faith"
As part of Heavenly Father's plan of redemption, all people experience adversity during their lifetime. Trials, disappointments, sadness, sickness, and heartache are a difficult part of life, but with the help of the Lord they can lead to spiritual growth, refinement, and progress.
Elder Orson F. Whitney said: “No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. … All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable. … It is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire.”

For me, being on this forum is a trial. Politics is not something I have had alot of time for. Paying attention to the issues, has not been something I was even interested in! I have 6 children. Thats where my time went. However, I am so enjoying listening and learning from what is being said. I can't believe how knowledgeable these people are. I also can't believe how combative some of them are. I get blasted right out of my chair sometimes.
I realize I don't bring alot to the table. I've been called stupid, uneducated, told its obvious I haven't studied or done my homework, blah, blah, blah! I call my husband up and let him read my submitions and the replys. He gets furious and asks why stick around for this abuse. He also laughs at the way I come back and calls me " Fiesty". :)) He hears me laughing at some of the posts. He is impressed when we talk with friends at the knowledge I have learned here. :-o
I have studied up on " How to win an Argument". Here's what I learned:

Use meaningless but weighty-sounding words and phrases.

Memorize this list:
■ Let me put it this way
■In terms of
■Vis-a-vis
■Per se
■ As it were
■ Qua
■ So to speak
Use snappy and irrelevant comebacks.

You need an arsenal of all-purpose irrelevant phrases to fire back at your opponents when they make valid points. The best are:
■ You’re begging the question.
■ You’re being defensive.
■Don’t compare apples and oranges.
■ What are your parameters?
This last one is especially valuable. Nobody, other than mathematicians, has the vaguest idea what “parameters” means.

Here’s how to use your comebacks:

You say – As Abraham Lincoln said in 1873…
Your opponents says – Lincoln died in 1865.
You say – You’re begging the question.

OR

You say – Liberians, like most Asians…
Your opponents says – Liberia is in Africa.
You say – You’re being defensive.

Compare your opponent to Adolf Hitler.

This is your heavy artillery, for when your opponent is obviously right and you are spectacularly wrong. Bring Hitler up subtly. Say: “That sounds suspiciously like something Adolf Hitler might say” or “You certainly do remind me of Adolf Hitler.”

You now know how to out-argue anybody. Do not try to pull any of this on people who generally carry weapons!

My problem is I don't remember these comebacks when I need them.
Now, you might wonder why, but I am not leaving. I know I should just lurk and not expose my stupidity, but I can't help myself. I love the lively debate. I am learning! I can take the abuse. I'm not used to it, but I can take it.
I look up the words they use. My vocabulary has become quite impressive. My son always rolls his eyes and says " Did you learn that on your forum with those bunch of pathetic losers who have nothing better to do than sit on the computer and argue? :)) I repeat that because they won't check this post. Its not controversial enough. So this is just between me and you sadie mormon!
B-) =)) :-B :ymparty: =p~ @-) :ymsigh:

Thanks, I Needed That

The last few days have been, well, let's just say they've been challenging.
We all could use some more laughter in our lives, that can't be denied. Sometimes all we read or hear about is bad news, sad news, it drags you down. I like to laugh!

I came and checked out your non-controversial post!

And i'm sorry I'm a passive aggressive jerk! :((

And I'm sorry you think I called you uneducated(d)! :-B

and as Kelly Clarkson would say - What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" (pretty sure someone beat her to that one) :))

So don't think of me as a trial, think of me as the "opposition in all things" :ymdevil:

When I am on the forum I spend most of my time in the Approaching the Heavenly Gift section of the forum and posting funny things for Mark, Bob's Help! thread and DrJones' humor thread. The political stuff can suck me in from time to time but I enjoy the banter.

I'm sorry I made you feel like a passive aggressive jerk! lol. I'm sure you are anything but! And I can tell you this, you would really like me in person.
Thank-you for the response and I am really impressed with your brains. Keep educating me!
