Hi,
I live in Kansas City, I'm 31, my wife and I have been married 5 years, I have one kid and another on the way, I have been LDS all my life. I had always had a strong feeling for the Constitution and knew of the many words of Joseph Smith concerning its importance. I had long looked with disgust at the way our government seems to pay it little mind.
I was watching the Iowa debate hoping to see a great man seeking to restore us to the Constitution in this Mitt Romney who was the famous Mormon in the race. I thought surely that he would be a man of integrity and grace. I was excited.
Then, as he spoke, he seemed to have little grace and came off like any other slick politician looking to say whatever necessary to get applause and votes. I was further bummed when I saw him getting in to quibbles with Huckabee over meaningless accusations. Then I heard him accused of negative campaigning. I was let down.
As I sat there bummed, the camera switched to another candidate and my jaw hit the floor when I heard the comments from the little old man talking about following the Constitution and cutting the government way back. He even got into the Gold Standard and wiping out the FED!!!!!
It was like a fire went off in me! I searched the internet and found everything I could. I was soon convinced that this man Ron Paul is the candidate I was hoping to see. After much research, I can say that I will vote for Ron Paul.
I have quietly felt out the feelings of other members in my area about this election. None have even so much as heard of Ron Paul and all of them favor Romney. Again, this is another let down.
So, tonight I find this forum and I am glad. I think a lot of LDS folks would swing to Ron Paul, if they new him and his views.
