What we are witnessing is indeed truly sad, but at the same time, very upsetting. It just goes to show where this nation is ethically, morally and politically and is a sign to the Lord that the United States needs a wake up call.

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – In response to an article published by The New Republic, Ron Paul issued the following statement:

“The quotations in The New Republic article are not mine and do not represent what I believe or have ever believed. I have never uttered such words and denounce such small-minded thoughts.

“In fact, I have always agreed with Martin Luther King, Jr. that we should only be concerned with the content of a person's character, not the color of their skin. As I stated on the floor of the U.S. House on April 20, 1999: ‘I rise in great respect for the courage and high ideals of Rosa Parks who stood steadfastly for the rights of individuals against unjust laws and oppressive governmental policies.’

“This story is old news and has been rehashed for over a decade. It's once again being resurrected for obvious political reasons on the day of the New Hampshire primary.

“When I was out of Congress and practicing medicine full-time, a newsletter was published under my name that I did not edit. Several writers contributed to the product. For over a decade, I have publically taken moral responsibility for not paying closer attention to what went out under my name.”

Finally a statement I can give to the LDS's that are saying he is racist!

I told them he did not write it!

LC: "I told them he did not write it!"

Exactly -- these are called "straw-man arguments". Falsely characterizing the views of another, then knocking down that false "straw-man." Very typical and I've faced such things often.

(E.g., a letter published in the New American just came to me, but from a letter to editor of about a year ago, falsely characterizes what I said about 9/11 in my first paper... Who will bother to read my paper to check what the fellow says, which was not quoted nor even given a reference? If anyone sees such, pls let me know... Like Col Flagg did with the Mike King material. A guy can hardly respond to all of these, but it helps to write a timely response when he finds out about the false arguments!)

Check out the last paragraph of this article in BYU's paper, The Daily Universe.

My question is how do we stay enthusiastic with such abuse?

What nice love thy neighbor approach that author has taken, and under the name of BYU....

Maybe it is a blessing that I did not go there after all, and chose marriage and a family instead.

Here's that last sentence in the BYU newsnet:
With Giuliani or Romney continuing on to battle the Democratic nominee, Rep. Ron Paul can go back to wearing an aluminum foil helmet and hiding from black government helicopters.
No reason given for this cheap-shot.
Info about the author is given:
Max Hunsaker is a BYU alumnus '06 and a candidate for a master's of public policy at the University of Southern California. He is also a professional Republican strategist.
Again comes to mind Pres. Packer's warning against MOCKING by members of the Church.

I have suggested to a local Ron Paul Meet-up group that on the Satuday before the primary election they walk and drive around Temple Square in SLC with Ron Paul signs and flyers giving reasons why LDSs espacially should vote for Paul instead of Romney. Maybe the same could be done at BYU and around the institute at the U of U.

There is early evidence of election tampering from New Hampshire. It doesn't take a whole lot to skew the numbers. A family of three in the Township of Sutton each voted for Ron Paul, but when the numbers were finalized and reported, NO votes for Ron Paul were reported from that precinct!

The City Clerk responsible for submitting the voting summary admitted that there had been 31 votes for Ron Paul, but that in preparing the summary report, 'human error' had recorded 0 as the final tally. Some error!

It will cost Ron Paul $67,000 for a recount. I'm willing to contribute to that as long as the recount is monitored every step of the way.

As for the BYU Forum piece...that guy isn't a writer for the Forum. He's just voicing his personal opinion. Write a counter piece as a "Letter to the Editor". No need to let people with idiot views keep the truth from being heard from those who know the truth.

I heard a very good analysis today on the Jerry Hughes show (12:00-3:00 on 1480 AM here in Utah) regarding why the republican base is so anti Ron Paul. The conclusion was that Paul represents exactly what republicans should be, but aren't, and that makes them look bad and it also embarrasses the party, which may be the reason Ron was excluded from the Fox debate. Ron is the epitome of righteous, honest, ethical, moral government and with the rampant corruption now in place in Washington, if someone like him were to be elected, the graft, greed, corruption, political junkets, etc. all become threatened, which would cut off all the profiteering and luxurious living going on at the taxpayers expense. It's the equivalent of a big party going on at the house and Ron Paul is the parent coming home unannounced.

This Max Hunsaker is an ignorant, ill-informed baffoon for what he said about Paul... what a joke. I gotta tell you though... I've seen and read many articles from the Daily Herald and BYU that are just plain empty of real news, poorly written or full of ignorance, but this one from Hunsaker may take the cake regarding ignorance!

My brother went to BYU and has first-hand knowledge of the double-standards and greed that take place there with its administration. They'll turn the other cheek if a football player has a tattoo, earring or other body piercing because of the money the football program brings in, but if the average student has their hair just a little too long, they get sent home. There are countless more I could cite, but you get the idea. The school will also do anything for a buck, most notably not allowing any outside food/drink into the stadiums/venues anymore and using security as the excuse, when it has to do with forcing fans to pay top dollar for their concessions. Some have argued that this was a rule sent down by the NCAA, but it wasn't.

I've been quite pleased seeing all of the Ron Paul banners around Utah County, most notably hanging from freeway overpasses for all of the I-15 travelers to see. I'm sure this has caused many who have never heard of him to look him up on the internet. Way to go, whoever you are! :D
