I was surprised to find that my own tribe, Ephraim, and also the tribe of many LDS people in America, was one of the "lost" tribes. The article talks about how the "lost" tribes are the tribes that lived in the northern part of israel and were taken captive by the Assyrians. The tribes that weren't captured include the tribes of Benjamin, Judah, Simeon, and Levi.
Now you're probably thinking that this accounts for 14 tribes instead of 12 and the article explains why more thoroughly than I can.
So the 10 lost tribes are/were: Reuben, Asher, Ephraim, Dan, Issachar, Half-tribe of Manasseh, Naphtali, Zebulun, Gad, Half-tribe of Manasseh (Machir).
The LDS church is primarily made up of the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh (that is I think so) or those who are adopted into the house of israel through the lineage of Joseph. I also know that Joseph received the birthright and part of the blessing of the tribe of Ephraim includes the keys to gathering "the rest" of the lost tribes of israel.
I guess what I've been wondering is since America is primarily composed of the tribe of Joseph, does that mean that the rest of the world makes up the rest of "lost" tribes? And we know from D&C 77 and the Book of Revelations that 12,000 from each tribe must be sealed as high priests during the sixth seal of time.
Do we even have enough members from each tribe to seal the 144,000 faithful???
