Strawberry

Post by Strawberry »

Hi Everyone,
I've been lurking for quite some time, perhaps since February or March. I found this forum as I was in the throngs of being investigated by CPS (child protective services) :-o . Needless to say, I was terrified and had no idea what to do about this threat to my family so I started studying up on freedom. Since then I've learned so much - much from reading the wisdom shared on this forum, from Scott (who was my mentor through this heck) at http://www.myfreedomrestored.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, from listening to Michael Badnarik, reading books by H. Valeran Anderson and many other sources. The more I've learned about freedom, the more I realize I don't know and the more determined I am to share what I've learned with others. More importantly I'm determined to pass on a legacy of freedom to my children so they can walk in confidence, understanding their rights, having courage to exercise them when they are threatened (as I'm sure they will be).

On a more personal note, I'm a stay at home, homeschooling mother of 5 young children. Love strawberries, reading, gardening, Aikido, self-reliance, hand crafting and chocolate :) !

Blessings!

Welcome!

Yeah chocolate and strawberries, yum! When I got home from my mission, I worked at the Ritz Carlton and I got to know the chefs and they always saved me a plate of chocolate covered strawberries (among other things that completely spoiled me!).

oh my goodness, Strawberry! I'm so sorry this happened to you....is it all resolved now? Did the sister who reported you apologize? I really appreciate you documenting everything on your blog. Lots of great advice :-). I homeschool here in oregon, too. I think I remember when you posted to the yahoo group about this. Absolutely frightening. Please tell me the sister was not your VT...that list of allegations is ridiculous---and the one about preparing the kids for the apocalypse??? Wow! I guess all christian parents should be reported for preparing their families for the last days and return of the Savior. I can't BELIEVE that's on an LDS woman's list of things to report to DHS.

Welcome Strawberry! You should know better than to love freedom, gardening, and homeschooling. CPS doesn't like that. Look forward to learning from you!

linj2fly, I'm so glad to "see" another Oregonian on the blog. Sometimes I feel so alone here in Baghdad on the Willamette. I'll make a post in the yahoo group soon and answer those questions. I still have my kids, always have, the case is still open as far as I know.

:)) :)) :)) That was great. Add to that home-birthing, non vaxing, alternative medicine and Christian and I'm REALLY a government target! :-o

I do feel SO welcome here, thank you guys!

Blessings!

My husband says, "There is a reason we don't live in the People's Republic of Oregon." He's from there and we've considered moving back but just can't imagine it the more we learn. Seriously, consider a move to Alaska. Great homeschooling laws --you don't have to report AT ALL (unless you want state funding, which still is not an offensive process) and I believe it is the only state where the burden of proof lies with the State...they must prove you aren't homeschooling as opposed to you having to prove that you are doing it. And we have jobs here. Just sayin'! ;)

Your husband is right, and we are SO done living here for a myriad of reasons. Funny you mention Alaska, I have family up there and 2 of my friends are moving up there soon. My husband recently got laid off so he is applying to jobs outside of Oregon mostly, in TX, UT, PA, AZ, I asked him about AK, but he won't consider it, at least not yet ;)

Welcome, Strawberry. I read your blog--well, at least July's. Not sure if there's more. My best to you. And I love strawberries. My parents planted a patch in the backyard when I was a kid and I think I ate them all before they could ever ripen. I'm sad they are now out of season right now as I wanted a big strawberry pie with real whipped cream today when I went out to eat with my wife. They offered me strawberry cheesecake instead. No thanks!!! Anyway, all my best to you and your family. :)
