Corpus of LDS General Conference Talks
Have you ever visited this site: http://corpus.byu.edu/gc/
I recommend you take the time to do a search on "constitution". The results are very educational. I think we missed out chance (if we truly had one) of averting the need to "cleans America".

Interesting to not the peaks:
1910 - 1940s - Federal Reserve, Income Tax, Socialized Security (which the church leadership strongly opposed) and two world wars.
1960s - Lyndon Baines Johnson - 'nuff said. OK, I'll add "The Great Society".

That's a great site, Mes! Thanks for sharing....I agree with you--it is very telling.
1850's--prob still speaking about being driven from their homes and of course, the Utah War.
Also note the 1880's--George Reynolds (and the church) lost their case against the SCOTUS in 1879. Edmonds Act passed in 1882. The following years many were imprisoned or went underground.

Re: Corpus of LDS General Conference Talks
A full query of 'faith hope charity' would be interesting in light of this thread...
Faith, Hope, Charity.......and then the destructions.
http://www.ldsfreedomforum.com/viewtopi ... =2&t=17550
(my email's is not working properly today so I can't...long registration story)
I did get this query on faith in before it asked me to register...
Faith 27679
1850s 1278
1860s 1033
1870s 1504
1880s 1473
1890s 1410
1900s 1316
1910s 1823
1920s 2169
1930s 1757
1940s 1593
1950s 2028
1960s 1912
1970s 1566
1980s 1502
1990s 2266
2000s 3049
A similar trend is seen with 'hope.' I didn't get to search 'charity.'

Re: Corpus of LDS General Conference Talks
Thanks for the tally of references to the US Constitution over the decades. I joined the Church in Feb. 1960 and have noted the decline in references to the Constitution over the decades since. I certainly notice the difference between the 1960s and even the 1970s coompared with the last 2 decades. To me it signals that it is too late to turn things around now, and continued or further discussion of the Constitution can only hopefully awaken younger members to be prepared to participate in the restoration of consitutitional principles to gevernment after the "cleansing of America". Also, the actual statements semm to me to have been toned down, I think to avoid any retribution against the Church from the LDGs.
