This struck me because earlier today I got an impression...it really had nothing to do with the other thread, but the sports analogy reminded me of the earlier impression, and I thought I would toss it out there.Jason and Col. Flagg
I totally agree with you and that's why this is so frustrating. I feel like a player trying to get the coach to let me in so I can just play the freak'n game.
LET'S DO THIS ALREADY!!!!!
The impression was that our kindred dead who do not have their work done probably feel like players on the sidelines - they probably want to be more involved in what is going on, and are being held back due to their work not being done. They are likely expressing much this same sentiment - "Come on coach! Send me in! I'm READY!"
Remember that we fight not against the powers of this world but against the dark powers of the spiritual realm. Could it be possible that as we bring salvation to those waiting for their work to be done, that they are then enabled to bring salvation to us, by aiding us in our battle against these dark forces. I have always understoood the part about turning the hearts of the children to the fathers, but not so much the turning of the hearts of the fathers to the children. I have seen some apply that to mortality - i.e. fathers need to properly care for their children - and while I agree with the sentiment it never seemed to be what was meant in the scripture - it jsut never felt right to me. And this seemed to click into place that we need to turn the hearts of our ancestors to us. I am not advocating ancestor worship, but I can't help that having their hearts turned to us may be what keeps the Lord from smiting the earth with a curse...
I love those moments when something clicks into place.
