Thought for the Day....
I month or so ago, Brian asked for suggestions on the forum, I asked for this kind of topic, and several others indicated a similar desire. So I thought I would share a thought to start off the process. I hope each person who wants to join in will share a Gospel oriented thought that may provide strength, inspiration or encouragement to others on this mortal journey we are on. Here is a thought for the first go at this, please improve on my effort and add your thoughts.
Life is a complex mathematical equation. A life well lived is made of many different equations, but the solution is always the same. I have watched my kids to math homework. When they come to a problem that they didn’t know how to work successfully, (the key word here is successfully) they would flip the book open to the end, and look up the right answer, and then try to fill in the middle stuff, to make the problem and the answer come together. Often if you can see the right answer, you can figure out how to work out the problem to proper and useful conclusion. Wouldn’t it help to have an answer key to life, like my kids have in their math books?
Yes, you’re right. We do. It is actually a very simple one. It is the key to all of life. It is the grand outcome to every situation. It is the answer to every situation in life. Our only challenge is to correctly identify the problem, and then connect that problem with the right equation to come up with the right answer, the same answer as the key to life offers.
The answer is always singular. Always. It is one of the few constants in life. The answer we always want to come up with to be correct in our Math of Life, is “Gratitude”. No matter what life’s “problem”, the answer is “Gratitude”. When we can work our Life Math to give that outcome, we are becoming Masters of Life Math.
Whether it is the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, the contrary choices of a child, the loss of trust of a spouse, the deceit of a friend, the loss of self respect, the abuse of a child, or simply a challenge that stands looming in front of you that seems insurmountable.
"True gratitude is the ability to humbly see, feel, and even receive love. Gratitude is a form of returning love to God.” Gene R. Cook, "Charity: Perfect and Everlasting Love," Ensign, May 2002, 83.

Re: Thought for the Day....
Samuel, I have to remember how I got you on egg shells, for future reference.
Have at it. It is just a thought. Pick at it. Share you own take, or add to it.
Try adding your own thought for the day.
We all love each other here, so how could I be hurt or offended.

Rand: If you have followed the 60 paost per day thread, that's what has caused me to walk on egg shells. I was told NOT to just post a thank you as it wasted space. I wonder if that advice is followed by the people who give it?
