Hello from Texas! This looks like a nice place for a freedom loving, provident living, gun toting, compost and gardening, Book of Mormon loving, constitution supporting, redneck.

Hello Nan,
living in the DFW area, but fairly new to TX in general. Love the weather, even with all the tornado sirens.

I'm glad you used lower case "l" for libertarian. When I lived in Kalifornia and was asked my political views, I always responded "I'm a classic liberal". I said it that way because I knew only libertarians or genuine conseratives would know that classic liberalism was what Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Thomas Payne were. All the Kali-modern liberals needed to hear was "liberal" in my description and they thought I was part of the state and therefore considered "good people".
It was fun to listen to their rants thinking I agreed with what they were saying and it opened the door in their minds when I would introduce political view points that weren't modern liberal, but more libertarian.
and yes: you can hold me to all of that. When I got into composting and gardening and neighbors would ask about it, I always framed it under the "organic" or "environmental" mindset. People with leftist leanings could understand that point of view way better than the provident living/survivalist mentality (which means they usually left us alone).

Or here's a new one the "liberals" use: sustainability.

Better get ready because Obama wants to saend USA troops to :"help" Mexico with the drug war. If we do, then Mexican people have every right to defend themselves and attack Texas.

You would be surprised at how many Neo-Cons are okay with over taxation, Patriot Act, Fed Reserve, gun control, TSA groping and all the other "faux-conserative" precepts taught by the right. It's my only disappointment in Metro Texas (I won't include the rural Texans as I suspect they are have more of the old Alamo attitude in them).
I think NH, UT, AK, and AZ would be the first to declare themselves a soveriegn nation. That's my bet at least.

I've read some of your postings and I've come to the conclusion that "you've got good joe".
Maybe it's your avatar. The picture of Washington is just plain soothing. B-)

We love it too! I wrote my ONLY disappointment was a general attitude amoung those who I think should know better. That is a small price to pay for living in such a great place!
