I have no love for the job the Hatch does. I wish he would wise up, bow out and groom a good replacement. Someone with some moral fiber left.

Seriously, mormonness aside, Romney is a good Presidential candidate. Do not be overly critical of him and hold him to a higher standard when you are going to the polls. You are not electing him to an ecclesiastical role, you are electing him President. He would do this country some good.

A week ago I was not leaning toward any of them. I though Newt might pan out. I had a lot of respect for him and his contract with America. I have some friends on the hill who say he is one of the smartest people up there. But his horrid spin and attitude have shut him down. Paul has always been too right to be electable in a general. Bachmann is too tea party for a general, and none of the other governors want to run. This left me with Mitt. He is not my first choice, but the best choice to defeat our current sitting joke of a president.

I would say you need to find some new friends who are more informed. Seriously! One of the smartest people up there? You mean one the the most corrupt people up there right? Newt is Former House Speaker for Bush for crying out loud. That should say enough. While Cheating on his wife and family and who knows how many affairs, he led the charge against President Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair while he was in the back room having his own.. Newt opened the door for Bill Clinton to claim the same alibi. Gingrich’s says the reasons for his affairs was a result of his passion and feelings for his country. =)) He is a member of the Bohemian Club and other secret societies, Member of the CFR, and apart of many other evil institutions. There is nothing to respect about the man. He has been bought off for years. I bet you his dirty laundry is longer than santa clause list. Newt is far from one of the smartest guys.

I give you credit though, Even though I would never put my name next to Romney's, He sure is better than Newt. That's because you can't get any worse than Newt. I really thought Newt was going to be this elections John McCain.

My friends on the hill are quite informed. They did not say he was upstanding, just very smart. He has proven that over and over. Corruption does not remove intelligence. He is currently taking calculated risks to stir up some media buzz. He made an error, and is out. Now Pawlenty is in. I have to go research him.

He is not smart at all. He has the same size brain as a fish. Very tiny. He will go down as one of if not the worse house speakers in the history of our country. Me made SOOOOO many mistakes its unreal and too long to list. But for some weird reason these things keep getting thrown by the way side and all these same old life long politicians who are most responsible for the mess were in just keep coming back. Mitt Romney for President USA 2012... Barack's attacks

Just this morning, the New York Times posted a story, "Group Unleashes Early Ad Against Romney," about President Obama's reelection campaign machine starting attack ads in South Carolina against Governor Romney. All the while, South Carolina is hurting. Like many states suffering from the failed policies of the Obama administration, the Palmetto State has seen 3,800 more jobs in April disappear than in the previous month; and they are currently experiencing 9.8% unemployment.

After campaigning so famously on "hope" and "change," the President and his team have now resorted to governing on fear and misdirection. Already, former Obama aides and union leaders have been commissioned to lead outside political attack groups -- which aren't limited in the amount of high-dollar donations they can receive -- and President Obama himself plans to raise an additional $1 billion.

As part of their effort this weekend, they'll be welcoming Governor Romney's visit to South Carolina with a misleading, negative attack ad -- their first ad of the campaign. There is no doubting it -- the vast amount of money that President Obama has raised over the last few years is being put towards silencing his opposition. Don't be silenced.

Make no mistake. Governor Romney plans to confront these attacks head-on. He will not allow these tactics to slow him down. Governor Romney's message of restoring a prosperous economy and bringing jobs back to the American people is too crucial to be suppressed by political maneuvering.

I hope you'll join me and stand with Mitt today. Help him show these outside political attack groups that they're out of tune with America's core beliefs

I wonder if Mitt Romney realizes, as Ron Paul does, the real reasons behind wars this country has gotten into. Romney otta be clamouring for the responsibility for declaring (authorizing) war to be returned to the US Congress. But of course that's not the way the LDGs want it, so I guess we cannot expect anything from him on that.

A fundraising group with ties to President Barack Obama launched a television ad against Romney in South Carolina in advance of his visit.

The ad by Priorities USA Action, which was founded by two former top aides in the Obama White House, criticizes Romney for supporting a House GOP budget plan that would privatize Medicare for future retirees.

Romney says he generally supports the proposal offered by U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan but details of what he will offer will be different.

"The Ryan plan and my plan are on the same page. We have the same objectives. My plan is different than his - it's not identical," Romney said.

Romney Update: Tops Four Polls, Heading to Iowa & Florida, Obama Supporter Scaramucci Raises Funds for Romney
May 25th, 2011
http://mittromneycentral.com/2011/05/25 ... nt=Twitter" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Demonstrating his regard for hard-working Iowans, Gov Romney isheading to The Hawkeye State this Friday:
Just days after naming former 2008 campaign staffer Sara Craig as his State Director for Iowa, Romney will head to the Hawkeye State himself, starting his day Friday meeting with employees at AgVision Agriculture Software, a company that specializes in providing computer software to grain elevators, seed processors, fertilizer retailers and feed stores, to name a few.

Romney will then be the kick-off speaker for the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Presidential Forum Speaker Series. The series, sponsored by the Greater Des Moines Partnership, Mediacom and IowaPolitics.com, will extend invitations to all prospective presidential candidates before the 2012 Presidential Caucuses.

Later Friday, Romney will head to Cedar Rapids to attend a picnic at the Hughes Farm, hosted by the Johnson and Linn County GOP.
Mitt Romney returns to Jacksonville to raise dough with Who’s who of Republican elites. Northeast Florida, a high turnout GOP stronghold, was very much Romney country in 2008. He crushed John McCain in that region.

Hedge fund manager Anthony Scaramucci is deserting an old classmate to beat the fundraising bushes for his rival.
The founder of $7.2 billion Skybridge Capital is holding a Presidential campaign fundraising dinner for Republican Mitt Romney, thereby turning his back on his Harvard Law School classmate and White House incumbent Barack Obama.
The $2,500 per plate event is slated for June at the Mandarin Hotel in New York, according to a report in MarketWatch.
But a source told HedgeFund.net that Scaramucci had already held more private fundraising events for his candidate mostly aimed at hedge fund managers and other investment advisors.

Romney, who co-founded private equity firm Bain Capital before he served as Massachusetts governor, is the type of pro-business Republican that many in the asset class would like to see as their next President.
Though Romney isn’t a presidential candidate yet and hasn’t begun official campaigning, and in spite of FreedomWorks, he comes out on top in four polls this week:

★ Mitt Romney wins Harris poll (5/25/11)

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney has won another poll.

Mr. Romney, a potential Republican presidential candidate, received 14 percent support in the latest Harris poll.

Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, who said he would not seek the Republican presidential nomination before the vote was taken, was second among likely GOP voters in the poll released Monday at 12 percent. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich had 10 percent.

The remaining field of potential candidates received less than 8 percent and “undecided” led the field with 23 percent.

The poll is the third in less than twenty-four hours to show Mr. Romney as the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination. The former Massachusetts governor took first in a CNN poll released Monday and an Ohio poll released later that day also showed Mr. Romney leading the pack of Republicans.

★ Insider Advantage (5/24/11)

Insider Advantage conducted a survey for Channel 2 Action News of 770 likely Republican and Independent voters in which Georgia’s Herman Cain is statistically tied for second place with Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann.

According to the poll, Mitt Romney received 16.2% of the vote, Michelle Bachmann 11.8 %, Sarah Palin 11%, Herman Cain 10.9%, Tim Pawlenty 7.4%, Newt Gingrich 6.4%, Ron Paul 5%, Other 5.3%, Undecided 25.5%.

★ CNN/WMUR by New Hampshire Survey Center (5/23/11)

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney led the poll, garnering 32 percent of GOP primary voters in New Hampshire, the state where the nation’s first presidential primary is to be held. For the rest of the GOP players, they are clumped at the bottom of the lineup, with their batting averages amongst voters in the single digits.

★ Dick Morris GMRS Survey (5/25/11)

A survey completed on May 23rd shows Mitt Romney seizing a decisive national lead in the Republican Presidential Primary. Romney, who was getting only 22% of the vote before Trump and Huckabee pulled out, now swells to 30% of the primary vote (if Sarah Palin does not run).

With Palin out of the race, the Morris Poll found the following results:
Romney = 30%
Gingrich = 15%
Bachmann = 7%
Cain = 7%
Pawlenty = 5%
Santorum = 3%
Huntsman = 1%

With Palin in the contest, Romney still leads with 25% of the vote, followed by Palin at 16% and Gingrich at 11%. No other candidate gets more than 6%.
Romney’s $10.25 million fundraiser last week in just eight hours was a great start.

With sleeves rolled up and eyes clearly focused on rebuilding our nation, Romney’s hands are firmly wrapped around the wheel of a Mack big rig truck loaded with a lifetime of business experience, intelligence, organization, common sense leadership, values, work ethic, and wisdom.

As a retired Business Professor, Mitt has many, many strengths when it comes to making money and turning around organizations. He would a great person to head a new Grace Commission and then be assigned by Ron Paul to implement corrective actions.

BUT, IMHO these strengths are totally neutralized when it comes to being POTUS. The very foundation of the Restored Gospel is the vist by God and Jesus Christ to Joseph in 1820. IF this didn't happen, we would just be another Church. Do you agree?

Well, Mitt answered the questions of a TV interviewer in 2008 by saying, "AS FAR AS HE KNEW, GOD HAD NOT VISITED MAN ON EARTH SINCE MOSES." THAT DISQUALIFIES MITT IN MY EYES NO MATTER WHAT TEMPORAL STRNGTHS HE HAS.

Mitt Romney to formally announce candidacy

MANCHESTER _ Emphasizing the importance of the first-in-the-nation primary state to his campaign, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will formally announce his candidacy for President in New Hampshire next Thursday, June 2.

UnionLeader.com has learned that a noontime barbecue at GOP stalwart Doug and Stella Scamman's Bittersweet Farm in Stratham will be the venue for the Romney announcement. Both Scammans are former New Hampshire House members; Doug Scamman is a former Speaker of the House.

While other candidates have made their formal announcements elsewhere, Romney will be the first of the 2012 cycle to announce in the Granite State.

It's the second major Romney announcement based in New Hampshire. He recorded a video of his April announcement of the formation of a presidential exploratory committee at Cowell Stadium on the campus of the University of New Hampshire in Durham.

Romney has long been ramping up to the June 2 formal announcement. After finishing second to John McCain in the 2008 primary and then dropping out of the race shortly thereafter, he formed the Free and Strong America PAC to distribute fundraising proceeds to GOP candidates in key states, including New Hampshire in 2009 and especially during the 2010 mid-term election campaign.

Romney, who owns a second home in Wolfeboro, has been the leader in New Hampshire polling since February 2009, the month after President Barack Obama took office.

In a WMUR-CNN poll of likely New Hampshire Republican primary voters conducted by the University of New Hampshire and released earlier this week, Romney led with 32 percent. Running second was libertarian Republican Ron Paul with 9 percent.

A Romney aide said that in his announcement, Romney intends to call for limited government, a cut in the federal debt and a need for strong leadership in international affairs. He'll emphasize his private and public sector experience.

“He has the experience to create jobs and grow the economy, and he is the strongest Republican to defeat President Obama in 2012,” the aide said.

The Scammans' farm has been the site for dozens of political events over the years. They twice hosted George W. Bush, once as a candidate for President and once as President. They hosted an event for former Vice President Dan Quayle.

And they have hosted events for many New Hampshire candidates, from former U.S. Sen. Warren Rudman, former Gov. John H. Sununu and former Gov. and U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg to former Gov. Steve Merrill and former U.S. Sen. John E. Sununu.

“I think it's a great place to have the announcement event,” said Doug Scamman. “It's obvious to me that Governor Romney did a great job as governor and with the Olympics. When I wake up in the middle of the night I'll feel safer knowing he is in the White House than I would with anyone else.”

Food at the barbecue will be prepared and sold by the American Legion Post 35 in Hampton and proceeds will benefit the Global War on Terror Memorial Fund, which will allow the post to complete a memorial at the post.

In addition to hot dogs and hamburgers, the American Legion will also serve Ann Romney's special recipe chili.

The event is ticketed. A phone number for tickets will be announced by the exploratory committee shortly.

lundbaek... why has not the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints publicly refuted all anti comments and attacks against it?

Mitt HAS made public statements as to his allegiance to and membership of the LDS Church and all this entails... and continues to do so. He gives no reasons for anyone to doubt his beliefs.

His focus however is, and should be, on Political matters as befits a candidate for US President, not on publicly preaching the beliefs and teachings of the LDS Church. LDS Public Relations and LDS Missionaries are available for this role.

IF just an ordinary saint said this publicly, not only would and should his/her TR be pulled but maybe even a EXing court held. It seems to me that in today's Churh, we seem to be a respector of persons, especially people like Romney and Harry Reed. One must remember that in a live interview when a point is not allowed continuance, expansion or clarification, one's answer can be incorrectly interpreted and misunderstood. There can be no mistaking that Mitt has at all times clearly stated his LDS allegiance, and that he identifies to the world as a devout and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints...and all that entails.

I never stated that Mitt Romney denied that God visited Joseph Smith. But I have made it clear that he sent out a clear message that as far as he knew God had not spoken to man since He spoke to Moses. And I consider it important that LDS voters know about that so they will be more alert for his other failings. If Mitt Romney feels he was misunderstood, misquoted or somehow the TV station managed to distort his words a he spoke them, he has had plenty of time to force a retraction. I was interviewed on TV myself and also challenged about my political persuasions during debates. I was well prepared to say that it is in part due to my religious convictions that I believe the US Constitution was inspired by God and I am obligated to uphold it. I regret that I was never given that chance. By that time I was already aware of Mitt's failures to uphold constitutional principles.

Janadelle: It appears to me that you are willingly blind to the religious cowardice of Mitt Romney. Only a blind person would say that Mitt has publicly said on MSM that God visited Jospeh Smith when in essence he said God has NOT visited anyone since Moses.

And that was NOT a slip of the tongue. Believe me, his handlers have thought about every possible question that could be asked. They have thought out the "best" answer. The question asked by the Boston TV interviewer was anticipated. IF NOT, he better hire better handlers.
