New from VA

Hey all. I found this via a google search or something. Outside of church stuff, I like fast cars, hence the username.
I lived out west most of my life but for the last 7 years I have been in VA. It is tough to find LDS discussions out here, and quite a few of the members lean more left than I am comfortable with. So I am happy to find this place.

Welcome speedracer. Look forward to hearing your perspective. VA is a great place, but not as liberal as my home state: MD.

Nothing wrong with domestic SRT, SVT, etc. rides. Just don't own them for more than two years.

I am actually looking for a car I can drive and take to the track. It has been a long while and a couple kids since I have been.
MD is more liberal! I am in Northern VA which is making this state lean more left than right.

Do you want to buy one? Or would you be interested (skills, tools, shop,etc) in building one - kit?

Funny you ask that. I have been looking at set to go in old and new models, I have also entertained building. It is a time vs. money thing. I am so indecisive and see the pros of all sides that I may never make up my mind.

I'm a big fan of Factory Five Racing -
http://www.factoryfive.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Haven't built a car yet due to variety of issues (keep changing my mind on favorite, finances, priorities - like preparation for endgame, etc.). Pretty hard to go wrong from both performance, looks, and cost aspect.
You can easily do a Cobra for $20-$25k not including your labor. Wear and tear parts, like brakes, are cheap so very cost effective high performance car. Coupe is $5k more and adds a roof.
GTM steps it up several levels - both performance and price. Looking at probably $50-$70k (or more) depending on engine choices (like twin turbo Banks 350, LS7, or budget 383 crate motor).
I'm very interested in the new project of taking WRX running gear in small coupe.
Always Kirkham Motorsports down in Orem.....but they are bit more with increased engineering and materials.
And the option of picking up a used BMW M3 or something equivalent.
