Brian-

Downloaded the file and just finished listening to it. A FANTASTIC interview, and I thank you for sharing! I wish I could have met Brother Skousen in this life.

AGStacker-

I emphathize with you, brother. I'm 24 and from a broken family as well. Almost none of my friends and peers want to hear about the coming crisis... Our generation is almost entirely asleep, it seems. But they will awaken, soon, I hope.

I read this whole thread and I downloaded the "What We Might Expect in the Next Twenty-Five Years" and all I can say is I believe Bro. Skousen is right.

Skousen's daughter Julianne Kimber and her husband started a Lds private school. Using a lot of Skousen's teachings. The school is The Kimber Academy. Dr Glenn Kimber holds round tables discussing the Constitution and the problems in America. Julianne and Glenn also have started holding The Healing of America seminars. Contact Emity Shipley 801-494-7079 to sign up. Kimber travels the country teaching. For more info google The Thomas Jefferson Center for Constitutional Studies, the Kimbers company.

Interesting article, some good stuff for me.
But these were not like any horses he had ever seen. Notice his bold attempt to describe the strange mobile units which he saw:

“Like the noise of chariots [not of horses] on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble;…they shall run like mighty men [once more the simile changes] they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break ranks: neither shall one thrust another, they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded. They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses: and they shall enter in at the window like a thief. The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble.” 86

It sounds very much as though the prophet is attempting to describe helicopter gun ships and a modern armored division rumbling across a city with cannon and flame-throwers spreading destruction all around.
It sounds like robots to me...

Interesting that he puts the return of the 10 tribes at almost the end of it all. I wonder why? It seems they'll come much earlier.

For anyone interested if you haven't read it before. All the talk about intelligences and atonement and mercy is from his talk shown below. It just talks about the meaning of the atonement and how it works by using mercy.

There are 2 other articles one of which named the Meaning of the Atonement that are shorter than the version shown above. (I think this version is the longest one)

Thanks for posting this stuff!! I woke up to all this about 1.5-2 years ago...

my favorite thing Cleon said in that mp3 was. "Adam didn't die, after he finished his mission he sloughed off mortality and returned to GLORY!"

its not word for word but just going from memory :D

thanks again I will have to start reading all these books.. already finished Cleansing of America.

TZONE... that was an AMAZING talk, thank you for posting it!!! I am filled with AWE and Gratitude after having read it! It's incredible all the gospel is right there in front of us and I just read over most of it without gleaning the mystery of what was said....

Much appreciated.

Thanks Brian. Brother Skousen helped me to more fully understand the atonement, and I've been blessed with much knowledge since.

That's exactly what Cleon said. There wasn't much Cleon didn't know and he knew exactly who Adam/Michael was!

No problem. That article changed the way I view life. Keep in mind his intelligences talk about gaining favor (Christ did so) to satisfy justice does have different views by earlier apostles (Orson pratt? who wrote the Seer if i remember correctly mentions another view). But I liked it a lot.

I see you are online at the moment. I cannot access any of the mp3/4 's It comes up with a real player link that is broken???
Please give me any insight you may have.

Also, listened to talk by Elder Cook talking about blogging anonymously when he gave a CES address and I have decided to go by my name but cannot see where I can change to this. Could you inform me there as well.

Are you referring to the MP3 recording of Skousen that is available in this thread? You could try downloading it again. If you don't have the right player for it, try Winamp Lite, that's what I like best for playing MP3's. For MP4 video I would use VideoLAN VLC. Hope that helps.

If you want to change your LDSFF username just send me a PM and let me know what you want it changed to.

The Creator wrote: August 10th, 2005, 2:59 pm W. Cleon Skousen tidbit - part 1

I have the wonderful opportunity of being taught by the great LDS Author/Speaker & Constitutionalist W. Cleon Skousen. He is called the greatest constiutional authority in the world because of his knowledge of the Constitution, teachings of the Founding Fathers and his spiritual understanding of this subject. The information taught by him and others is something I treasure; Throughout the lectures I have written notes of things important or interesting to me. So that these teachings are not forgotten and kept in the dark I present them to you. This is part 1...

ADDITION: I have uploaded the audio recording of my meeting with W. Cleon Skousen on May 29, 2005. This was recorded (filmed actually), and is being shared, with Brother Skousen's permission. This was a meeting with myself, and my in-laws who are close relatives to Brother Skousen.

As I was going through the recording, making any edits I felt necessary, taking out some of the irrelevant parts, I noted some of the topics being discussed:

W. Cleon Skousen - May 29, 2005. (click to play, or right-click and choose 'save as' to download)

Topics discussed:
Mormon, Moroni, and the defensive wars of the book of Mormon. The unconstitutional war in Iraq. John Taylor's vision of some events of the last days tribulations, destruction in Salt Lake City, as well as the events after the cleanse. Parable of the foolish virgins. Church condemnation the Lord declared in D&C 84. The antonement of Jesus Christ. Intelligence and matter. Mission experience in England. Priesthood authority and power. Isaiah. Adam & Eve, Garden of Eden. Spiritual Death. The Spirit World. The pre-mortal counsel. War and Peace. Republican and Democrat Parties. Constitution Party. Bruce R. McKonkie. Ann Tracy, author of Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? discussing antidepressants with Brother Skousen.

Now for part 1 of the written notes...

16 June 2005

Dr. Skousen served the FBI for 16 years (1935-1951), and worked closely with J. Edgar Hoover.

In 1956 he was asked to serve as Chief of Police of Salt Lake City. He was doing all the right things, especially fighting against vice, gambling and other crimes. There were corrupt individuals who didn't like what he was doing (who wouldn't like a reduction in crime?) so they made sure to elect a Mayor who would fire Skousen, and they did. According to his nephew, Joel Skousen, "The city's Mayor, J Bracken Lee reportedly called Skousen into his office and explained to him "how the world works" in any big city and why he needed to stop being so zealous in his prosecution of gambling and prostitution. Interestingly enough, Mayor Lee was no liberal in the political spectrum--he was a conservative Republican. But clearly his conservative leanings did not spill over into the moral realm. Cleon Skousen refused to ease up on crime and was fired. The scandal broke wide open when Skousen revealed what the Mayor had tried to get him to do, but the media was able to put the issue to sleep by selective spin control." The Mayor, J. Bracken Lee, said that the 3 days following were the worst of his career (because of all the people who protested the Mayor's action.)

The Salt Lake City Police Department has been corrupt ever since.
In my attempt to find the first post on LDSFF, I ran across this recap from Skousen in 2005. Interesting to see the juxtaposition of ideas over a 16-year span of time.

BTW, any idea what the very first handful of threads were on LDSFF?

I find myself echoing that question about W. Cleon Skousen from 2011 with regard to Joel Skousen in 2021.

Previously unfamiliar with him, and not wholly impressed on first acquaintance. Sure he says some valid things and has some insights. But in other ways he seems rooted in Cold War thinking and presents what looks an awful lot like pretty standard thinly disguised pro-establishment gatekeeping. Why is he such a deal? 🤷‍♀️

Are you saying you are not impressed with W. Cleon Skousen? I learned a lot from him in my early years of studying the principles of freedom and the Constitution. I would recommend at least reading "The Five Thousand Year Leap" to form a better opinion about him.

Cleon Skousen helped me greatly in going from knowing nothing about these things to having a good foundational understanding. He helped me to learn how to think and discern in regards to the Proper Role of Government (same with Ezra Taft Benson). And those teachings helped me to recognize the false left-right paradigm that so many, even supposed freedom-loving constitutionalists, get stuck in.
