Wonder why Skousen chose not to include the discussions of Communist Russia's role as the wounded beast, the US role as the First Dictatorship, and the possibility of Latin America overrunning the US in his book, "Cleansing of America?" I don't recall it being in there. Will have to go through that book again too.
The Cleansing of America AS PUBLISHED was not written by Cleon Skousen. It is taking from his notes (some in chapter & book format), but compiled and edited by his children (I don't think Glen Kimber had anything to do with it). It appears that the family greatly toned down discussion of destructions, war, conspiracies, etc, and focused only on the plague as a by-product of all types of sexual immorality; and also focused on what is needed for a American Zion Constitutional government. My understanding is that there may be up to 4 volumes of his notes that will be published, of which The Cleansing of America is only the first. I will have to ask Dr. Skousen's son more about this.

I also would love a link to as many of Brother Skousens' talks on MP3, I spend plenty of time in the car. I can't stand music, and talk radio just doesn't do it for me.

I know. I was thinking of a way to share it. It's probably too big a file to email? Ive probably got most of his talks on mp3 but that particular talk is amazing and covers a lot of material. Probably Cleon at his most candid, right at the end of his mortal life. :)
I'll get the audio posted online to share with everyone. Brother Skousen did give me permission to film and share it... I just need to make a few edits first, just taking out some things from the beginning that aren't really relevant to the rest of the discussion.

I just read the entire speech or discussion. Absolutely AMAZING! =p~

As I read I was actually calm and was with wonder just overwhelmed. I am going to re-read the entire thing again as there are so many nuggets of information.

In my own research and readings I agree and have seen many other scholars interpret the scriptures in the same manner.

The biggest stumbling block for me is this half hour of silence in heaven. If it started in 2000 and is 21 years at the end is the Second coming of the savior "IN GLORY" I am trying to fit all the pieces together that are recorded in Daniel. Daniel gives us many days and years for things to be accomplished. I am going to have to ponder the meaning of the 1/2 hour of silence again.

Daniel 9
24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Daniel tells me that from 1947 (the time the commandment to rebuild Jerusalem went forth) there will be 70 years until the "Seal up the vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy" That is the second coming. So 1947 + 70 years = 2017. This might only refer to the savior's coming to the Jews. That could be the case.... then in 3 more years.... finally the last and final coming to all the world.

BRUCE R said If the time here mentioned is ‘ Lord’s time’ in which one day is a thousand years, the haft hour would be some twenty-one of our years.” So then a half hour would be 20.8 years That would mean that The unrolling of the scroll where upon the entire world would see his face would be 2020.8 This is only speculation then in reality. This is not a fact.

It could still be that way.... my time line is a bit different... all winding up in 2017. Only three year difference. not bad really.

the bottom line is this upon us now! not 20 years form now. The next 10 years on this earth will see more amazing events than in the past 1900 years.

As promised, I have uploaded the audio recording of my meeting with W. Cleon Skousen on May 29, 2005. This was recorded (filmed actually), and is being shared, with Brother Skousen's permission. This was a meeting with myself, and my in-laws who are close relatives to Brother Skousen.

As I was going through the recording, making any edits I felt necessary, taking out some of the irrelevant parts, I noted some of the topics being discussed:

W. Cleon Skousen - May 29, 2005. (click to play, or right-click and choose 'save as' to download)

Topics discussed:
Mormon, Moroni, and the defensive wars of the book of Mormon. The unconstitutional war in Iraq. John Taylor's vision of some events of the last days tribulations, destruction in Salt Lake City, as well as the events after the cleanse. Parable of the foolish virgins. Church condemnation the Lord declared in D&C 84. The antonement of Jesus Christ. Intelligence and matter. Mission experience in England. Priesthood authority and power. Isaiah. Adam & Eve, Garden of Eden. Spiritual Death. The Spirit World. The pre-mortal counsel. War and Peace. Republican and Democrat Parties. Constitution Party. Bruce R. McKonkie. Ann Tracy, author of Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? discussing antidepressants with Brother Skousen.

I don't think we worship Cleon Skousen any more than we worship George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Moses, King Benjamin, Joseph Smith, or Ezra Taft Benson. These are people who understood the mystries of God and people that we can learn from if we too want to understand God - better.

Thanks for the great answer, Tribunal. But I'm interested in why you think Cleon Skousen is The Guy, ya know? I mean, I understand the founding fathers and prophets, but Cleon doesn't fit in with either. What am I missing? What gives Cleon so much insight? Thanks dudes.

I don't believe that Cleon Skousen is "the guy" but I do believe he is an incredible resource.

Cleon Skousen had insight and credibility because of the time and effort he invested in the study of government and history.

Also, Cleon Skousen may not have been a founding father or prophet but you do realize that founding fathers and prophets had teachers, right?

I am so frustrated right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just wrote a massive message and it didn't submit right. Let me try this again.

This is my first, err second, post here on LDS Freedom Forum. I wanted to thank BrianM for the information he has posted. I have much love for Cleon. He is in my top ten people list that are my heroes. He is a brilliant man of great understanding. Unfortunately I was never able to meet him. I read "The Cleansing of America" as soon as it was released. I also was able to get an older book of his on prophecies with his signature. I just finished reading the 25 year article which was awesome and I would like to add something to it.

I am 25 years old and I believe my member peers are totally oblivious to what is taking place. They have this arrogance about them, although good people, in regards to America. I suppose they believe America will continue to prosper economically while wickedness ensues. They don't even consider the economic factor.

I believe that the Jews will be able to build the temple because of what is occurring at this moment. I believe that the elite are creating the tensions in the Middle East. I believe that they are doing this so as to be able to essentially bankrupt and strip them of their wealth. How would this occur? Let me summarize. I feel my first post was perfect and this is just frustrating.

1) Elite create tensions in the Middle East and Africa
2) Chaos, strife, civil war are the results ending with Saudi Arabia
3) Because of the chaos, the US will begin to drill their massive, MASSIVE, oil reserves that we have known existed for decades (Henry Kissinger made this dastardly deal that we'd buy Arab oil as long as they would buy our treasuries)
4) This will be a devastating blow to the Middle East as we discontinue our dependency of their oil
5) At the same time the US dollar is nearing a tipping point that will cause the Fed to continue to Quantitate, thus America has hyperinflation and the Middle East loses its purchasing power by holding our reserves

Let me share a rare quoted quote by the prophet Joseph Smith :

As recorded by A. Milton Musser:

"...Prophet Joseph said that the next great (U.S. civil) war after the war of the rebellion (the Civil War of the 1860's between the North and the South) would commence in a little town now called Chicago but at that time it would have grown to be a very large city. And another brother told me that the Prophet said that the cause of the next great trouble of the United States would be the depreciation of the currency of the United States. I believe I have given you all the facts in as short and concise manner as possible."

It is very evident the financial path we are taking.

My assumptions about the Middle East or oil producing countries are influenced from the Baptist chaplain Lindsey Williams. He was a chaplain for the Alaska oil pipeline and became friends with many elite. He recently has been on numerous radio shows about his current communications with some of these elite. They reveal this information to him in their old age probably because of the guilt they are feeling before their deathbeds. I believe him to be sincere and honest. Yes, he does sell DVDs but he has repeatedly said to buy them and copy 100's of them to give to friends and family. He can be found on Youtube. I post a link to a video if requested.

It is overwhelming as I come from a broken family who for the most part think I am crazy. I find myself up late into the night worrying about where we are headed. I have an ample supply for myself but of course would share with my family.

It's good to be here!

Welcome AGStacker,

I think you have some very valid points there, about the elite and what may be coming, although I don't know for sure.

I agree with you feelings about Cleon Skousen. He is a hero to me as well. I DID know him personally. He was extremely intelligent, and had great integrity. Even so, he treated everyone he met as the most important person in the world, no matter how humble that person's circumstances. He was a truly great man.

That was something that also stood out to me when I was able to meet with him, something I wish more were able to experience, he displayed Christ-like love to others.

Back in 2005 I posted on this thread the following:
"My favourite memory of Brother Skousen goes back to late 1971, when he was my landlord. He did two things which left a lasting impression on me. First, when I told him I was considering a job with the CIA, he asked why. In response to one of my reasons, he stated that I'd be doing more good for the other side because the CIA was so infiltrated. And I guess Ames and Hanssen proved him right. The other thing he did which I greatly admired was at considerable expense to himself and with I believe considerable financial backing in addition to his own resources, established the Freeman Institute for the purpose of teaching Americans about the US Constitution and the threats to destroy it and merge America into a one world political, economic and military unit. The Freeman Institute eventually evolved into the National Center for Constitutional Studies (NCCS)"

I probably should have included my very first visit with Dr. Skousen in the Spring of 1968. I had been asked to substitute teach one high school seminary class from April until the end of school year. I accepted the task before I was told that it was Old Testament, with which I was desperately unfamiliar at that time. Somewhat in desperation, I went to Dr. Skousen's office at BYU, explained my predicament, and asked for help. He very graciously ushered me into his office, sat me down, and in about 20 minutes gave me handwritten lesson plans such that in took the students the rest of the school year to catch up with me. I was amazed at his kindness.

In late August 1970 I returned to Provo after having worked several months in Israel. While there I learned of some happenings that were reported much differently in the American MSM. Brother Skousen's oldest son, who became one of my best friends, invited me to rent a room in the basement of his father's house at 747 N. 1250 E. While living there for a year and a half, I appreciated the opportunities I had to talk with Brother Skousen, and found I could discuss things with him that I still don't talk about now, all these years later. I felt safe with him. Again, I was amazed at his kindness.

“And it shall come to pass, because of the wickedness of the world, that I will take vengeance upon the wicked, for they will not repent; for the cup of mine indignation is full; for behold, my blood shall not cleanse them if they hear me not.” D&C 29:7

It’s not too late. President Hinckley has been focusing on the fact that it’s not too late if the people will repent they will not be destroyed. See D&C 112

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, darkness covereth the earth, and gross darkness the minds of the people, and all flesh has become corrupt before my face. Behold, vengeance cometh speedily upon the inhabitants of the earth, a day of wrath, a day of burning, a day of desolation, of weeping, of mourning, and of lamentation; and as a whirlwind it shall come upon all the face of the earth, saith the Lord. And upon my house shall it begin, and from my house shall it go forth, saith the Lord; First among those among you, saith the Lord, who have professed to know my name and have not known me, and have blasphemed against me in the midst of my house, saith the Lord.” D&C 82:23-26
FWIW, unless you all have scriptures that I don't, there is no D&C 82: 23-26; just sayin' is all......
