And that is a bad, bad, bad, bad movie. I'd be embarrassed to even post a clip from it here. Would you post that next to your Ether 8 vandalism if the prophet were watching?

The reason why you're such a "big deal" around here is because no one appreciates the arrogant, passive-aggressive, troll-esque, attitude in which you post. First it was the "dude" complex which then a moderator quickly slapped out of you, and for that I was grateful. But my level of enjoyment on this forum has gone down a couple notches since you arrived, so I am putting you on my ignore list.

I think it is important to carefully weigh the words - "the sword of justice will fall upon you". Hmmm kind of brings imagery of an execution to my mind. The sword that hangs over us is not a sword of cruelty it is a sword that we have placed there by our own choices. The sword would fall due to the natural force of gravity/justice except for the hand that is holding the sword. That hand is holding back justice to give us the opportunity to repent, but if we allow these things above us, when the consequence follows it will be of our own creation. We placed ourselves under the sword. We will have to acknowledge that we were the builders of our own destruction.

Cleansings as in D&C 112: 23-26
23Verily, verily, I say unto you, darkness covereth the earth, and gross darkness the minds of the people, and all flesh has become corrupt before my face.
24 Behold, vengeance cometh speedily upon the inhabitants of the earth, a day of wrath, a day of burning, a day of desolation, of weeping, of mourning, and of lamentation; and as a whirlwind it shall come upon all the face of the earth, saith the Lord.
25 And upon my house shall it begin, and from my house shall it go forth, saith the Lord;
26 First among those among you, saith the Lord, who have professed to know my name and have not known me, and have blasphemed against me in the midst of my house, saith the Lord.
AND D&C 97: 22-26
22 For behold, and lo, vengeance cometh speedily upon the ungodly as the whirlwind; and who shall escape it?
23The Lord’s scourge shall pass over by night and by day, and the report thereof shall vex all people; yea, it shall not be stayed until the Lord come;
24 For the indignation of the Lord is kindled against their abominations and all their wicked works.
25 Nevertheless, Zion shall escape if she observe to do all things whatsoever I have commanded her.
26 But if she observe not to do whatsoever I have commanded her, I will visit her according to all her works, with sore affliction, with pestilence, with plague, with sword, with vengeance, with devouring fire.

Re: The Sword of Justice
I agree and would expand a bit. I was deeply affected by a quote by Cleon Skousen. He said (quoted from memory), "God is a God of love, but also a God of justice." (From his book Isaiah speaks to Modern Times.) He goes on to explain that this life is a time of testing and the Lord is holding off judgment to allow everyone to make the choices they will, but He will not hold back justice forever. The wicked will have the chance to rule and reign for a while, to think that they are invincible and no one can stop them, but in the end they will fully suffer for their deeds and the righteous will truly be rewarded. (Check out the story of King Hezekiah and the threat by the King of Assyria for a good example of this principle.) Those who die at this time have to wait until the next life for justice, but there will come a time, in preparation for the millennium, when justice will be poured out upon the earth.Original_Intent wrote:I think it is important to carefully weigh the words - "the sword of justice will fall upon you". Re: The Sword of Justice
One time when I read through the Book of Mormon cover-to-cover, I 'counted' with a single line on each page where I encountered 'the blessing and the cursing' over this continent. I don't have that copy of the Book of Mormon in hand, but I recall counting around 150 repetitions of the Lord's warning regarding the sacredness of this land and the responsibility those who live upon it need to fulfill.
It seems to me that the 'sword of justice' will be the Lord's 'upgrade' of the Creation. Those who are ready to Stand in His Presence, will.
The adversary has his counterfeit of the Creator's Power. He can break things, but he has NO power to create.
The Lord's upgrade will, indeed, be on an elemental level, but the Creation will be rendered to a higher level of being. That which is not already living above the telestial plane 'shall be consumed'.
I do not believe the CREATOR will leave it to lucifer to wield The Sword of Justice.
Ether 2 sums it up quite well:
7...he would that they should come forth even unto the land of promise, which was choice above all other lands, which the Lord God had preserved for a righteous people.
8And he had sworn in his wrath unto the brother of Jared, that whoso should possess this land of promise, from that time henceforth and forever, should serve him, the true and only God, or they should be swept off when the fulness of his wrath should come upon them.
9And now, we can behold the decrees of God concerning this land, that it is a land of promise; and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall serve God, or they shall be swept off when the fulness of his wrath shall come upon them. And the fulness of his wrath cometh upon them when they are ripened in iniquity.
10For behold, this is a land which is choice above all other lands; wherefore he that doth possess it shall serve God or shall be swept off; for it is the everlasting decree of God. And it is not until the fulness of iniquity among the children of the land, that they are swept off.
11And this cometh unto you, O ye Gentiles, that ye may know the decrees of God—that ye may repent, and not continue in your iniquities until the fulness come, that ye may not bring down the fulness of the wrath of God upon you as the inhabitants of the land have hitherto done.
It seems to me that the 'sword of justice' will be the Lord's 'upgrade' of the Creation. Those who are ready to Stand in His Presence, will.
Doctrine & Covenants 101
22Behold, it is my will, that all they who call on my name, and worship me according to mine everlasting gospel, should gather together, and stand in holy places;
23And prepare for the revelation which is to come, when the veil of the covering of my temple, in my tabernacle, which hideth the earth, shall be taken off, and all flesh shall see me together.
24And every corruptible thing, both of man, or of the beasts of the field, or of the fowls of the heavens, or of the fish of the sea, that dwells upon all the face of the earth, shall be consumed;
25And also that of element shall melt with fervent heat; and all things shall become new, that my knowledge and glory may dwell upon all the earth.
The adversary has his counterfeit of the Creator's Power. He can break things, but he has NO power to create.
The Lord's upgrade will, indeed, be on an elemental level, but the Creation will be rendered to a higher level of being. That which is not already living above the telestial plane 'shall be consumed'.

When I read this, it became clear to me why it is said that when we keep God's commandments, we gain light. But when we sin, we lose light. I hope that I have enough light to be living above the telestial plane at all times!buffalo_girl wrote: The Lord's upgrade will, indeed, be on an elemental level, but the Creation will be rendered to a higher level of being. I'm sure none of us will qualify as being 'sinless'. Perhaps we simply need to be more like 'a little child' in order to Stand.

Re: The Sword of Justice
Who holds the Sword of Justice? This guy:
Joshua 5:13 ¶ And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?
14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?
15 And the captain of the Lord’s host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.
Same guy:
Numbers 22:31 Then the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.
Same:
1 Chronicles 21:16 And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the Lord stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
Same guy:
2 Kings 19:35 ¶ And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
Same man:
Zechariah 3:7 ¶ Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the Lord of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.
Same individual:
Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Same guy:
Isaiah 27:1 In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
Isaiah 27 points to this:
Revelation 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
which points back to this:
Revelation 9:11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
same as the servant of Isaiah:
1 Nephi 21:2 (Isaiah 49) And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;
same as the "voice of Jehovah" or Jehovah's Aaron
D&C 33:1 Behold, I say unto you, my servants Ezra and Northrop, open ye your ears and hearken to the voice of the Lord your God, whose word is quick and powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword, to the dividing asunder of the joints and marrow, soul and spirit; and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Sword of Justice = The Holy Spirit = The Angel of the Lord = The Voice of Jehovah = The servant of Isaiah = Abaddon = The Destroying Angel
That's all one person, not *counting 1,2,3,4,5,6,7* seven individuals.
