A Philadelphia abortion doctor convicted of killing three babies who were born alive in his grimy clinic agreed Tuesday to give up his right to an appeal and faces life in prison but will be spared a death sentence.
Dr. Kermit Gosnell, 72, was found guilty Monday of first-degree murder in the deaths of the babies who were delivered alive and killed with scissors.

US Fraud

A decision handed down by an Indiana jury in late April 2013 has concluded that outright fraud put both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on the ballot in that state in 2008. Two Democratic operatives in the state were convicted of the illegal scheme.

Former longtime St. Joseph County Democratic party Chairman Butch Morgan Jr. was found guilty of felony conspiracy counts to commit petition fraud and forgery, and former county Board of Elections worker Dustin Blythe was found guilty of felony forgery counts and falsely making a petition, after being accused of faking petitions that enabled Obama, then an Illinois Senator, to get on the presidential primary ballot for his first run for the White House. Morgan was accused of being the mastermind behind the plot.

THAT's LIFE... Computer problems

Post by Elizabeth »

A massive horde of computer-killing "crazy ants" are invading the southeastern US, killing other species as they go.New research released today in the journal Biological Invasions warns the aliens have wiped out at least one other ant invader, the exotic fire ant, but are also targeting local ants with deadly precision. More worryingly, if you're a human, the tiny terrors also pose a threat to humanity due to their predilection for swarming into electrical machinery in huge numbers and destroying the circuitry.

The beasties earned the nickname crazy because they dart around erratically and quickly, rather than taking the calm, sedate paths favoured by other ants. They are also referred to as tawny crazy ants due to their natty colour scheme. For fans of El Reg, the ants' unexplainable taste for all things tech is likely to be their most terrifying characteristic. Once they move into a house, they swarm everywhere, occupying every space they can in frightening numbers. Then, for reasons no one fully understands, they swarm into machines and chew away at the wires. Once an ant is electrocuted, it releases a signal calling other ants to help it, which can quickly result in a ball of dead ants inside a circuit, with thousands of ants cramming in and ruining the device.

They are known to have brought down sewage pumps, messed up computers and were even considered a threat to NASA's facilities at the Johnson Space Centre, in Houston. The fire ant species - also an alien invader - isn't exactly popular itself, because it delivers a horrifically painful bite which is reputed to be as painful as a burn. But homeowners may find themselves yearning for the good old days of nasty, bitey fire ants if they find themselves invaded by their crazy cousins.Ed LeBrun, a research associate with the Texas invasive species research programme at the Brackenridge Field Laboratory in the College of Natural Sciences, was the lead author of the study.

“When you talk to folks who live in the invaded areas, they tell you they want their fire ants back,” said LeBrun. “Fire ants are in many ways very polite. They live in your yard. They form mounds and stay there, and they only interact with you if you step on their mound.” The crazy ants were first identified in 2002 by a pest controller in Houston, and have since spread out to 21 counties in Texas, 20 counties in Florida and have been seen in both southern Mississippi and southern Louisiana. In 2012, the ants were formally identified as the species Nylanderia fulva, which is native to Argentina and north Brazil. In their native countries, natural predators keep them in check, but in the US there are no checks on their population growth, meaning they can achieve population densities 100 times greater than fire ants.

“They don’t sting like fire ants do, but aside from that they are much bigger pests,” LeBrun added. “There are videos on YouTube of people sweeping out dustpans full of these ants from their bathroom. You have to call pest control operators every three or four months just to keep the infestation under control. It’s very expensive. “Perhaps the biggest deal is the displacement of the fire ant, which is the 300-pound gorilla in Texas ecosystems these days. The whole system has changed around fire ants. Things that can’t tolerate fire ants are gone. Many that can have flourished. "New things have come in. Now we are going to go through and whack the fire ants and put something in its place that has a very different biology. There are going to be a lot of changes that come from that.”

On top of their general madness, crazy ants are also very difficult to kill. They don't appear to be affected by traditional insecticides and even if one colony is killed, another one from the area can quickly fill the space. The crazy ants are the latest in a series of ant invasions from the south, stretching back to the arrival of the Argentine ant in the late 19th century. The ants are mostly carried through human activity, so experts suggest that travellers try to avoid carrying them inadvertently. Left to their own devices, the ants can only move at about 200 metres a year, but human activity means they move significantly more quickly. Currently, the crazy ants prefer wet climes with mild winters.

Al Jazeera is in my living room, on my TV. I did not order it or ask for it. Arabic is on my makeup, all of a sudden. I don’t know what it says. It could say “Death to the Infidel” for all I know, like, the Imam’s Muslim prayer that covertly damned our soldiers at the Navy SEAL Team 6 funeral in 2011. Why was a Muslim cleric at that funeral? Aren’t we fighting terrorism? Aren’t terrorists killing us? Aren’t all the terrorists Muslim? Islam seeks world domination. Islam is not just a religion. It is a military and political system. Ex-FBI John Guandolo’s book, Shariah the Threat contains documents taken from the raid of a terrorist cell showing the Muslim Brotherhood’s written plan of civilisation jihad, overtaking America, and their goal of global dominance, “the supremacy of shariah worldwide under a caliph.” Go to Shariah the Threat web site. Download the book for free. Islam enlists followers by violence (if the persuasion “civilisation jihad” doesn’t work) – you are killed if you leave the religion, and killed if you don’t convert. You can also pay a fee and be a slave. (“Civilisation jihad” means slipping into a society quietly and becoming part of the fabric until you have total control.)

THAT's LIFE... Bees

Post by Elizabeth »

Sending animals to do our dirty work — specifically of the drug-sniffing, bomb-hunting variety — isn’t a novel concept by any means. But while an animal bomb-sniffing squad might conjure up the image of a noble K9 dog, Croatians are now depending on a very different, perhaps not quite as loveable bomb fiend: the common honeybee.

Because though the Balkan wars may have ended several decades ago, there’s still over 1200sqkm of territory just brimming with unexploded mines. The European Union, which will finally call Croatia its own come July 1, understandably has a bit of problem with this. Since the start of the Balkan war in 1991, it’s estimated that around 2500 people have died from land mine explosions, and the 90,000 mines scattered around the country were placed at random and without any sort of map.

So Nikola Kezic, a professor at Zagreb University and honeybee behaviour expert, has been working with a team of researchers to bend the bees to our bomb-hunting will. Honeybees, conveniently, have a perfect sense of smell — all the better to track down delicious nectar with. Making use of this (figurative) nose that far surpasses our own, the scientists have been drizzling a team of bees’ food with TNT particles. This way, the bees begin to associate the smell of real, live explosives with their next meal.

Apparently, it’s been working. To test whether or not the bees were able to retain their newfound knowledge, the researchers set up multiple feeding points, only sprinkling the explosives on a few. And just as Kezic hypothesized, the bees generally avoided the pure sugar water, preferring to go towards the now familiar, TNT-seasoned batches instead. But their work isn’t over yet. According to Kezic:

It is not a problem for a bee to learn the smell of an explosive, which it can then search. You can train a bee, but training their colony of thousands becomes a problem.
The TNT itself presents another obstacle, since its smell tends to evaporate relatively quickly, leaving only trace amounts to act as the bees’ guide. The final controlled test will come when they send the bees off into actual (marked) minefields. Of course, the bees will never be able to uncover every single mine lying around, but by sending them off into supposedly de-mined minefields and tracking their movement with heat-seeking cameras, they could prove invaluable in uncovering the missed explosives. And save countless lives in the process. [Associated Press] http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2013/05/bees- ... picks=true" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Barack Obama’s Attorney for the Eastern district of Tennessee Bill Killian and Kenneth Moore, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Knoxville Division, want Americans to know that if you say something negative towards Islam or Muslims, the Federal government may imprison you. They will be having an event called “Public Disclosure in a Diverse Society” on June 4, the same day Obama is scheduled to sign the United Nations Small Arms Treaty.

Tim and Paul Samaras and Carl Young were known to viewers of the former Discovery Channel show "Storm Chasers."

(CNN) -- Three storm chasers were among the nine people killed in powerful storms that struck Oklahoma on Friday night.
Tim Samaras, 55, his son Paul Samaras, 24, and Carl Young, 45, died while chasing a tornado in El Reno.
Tim Samaras founded TWISTEX, the Tactical Weather Instrumented Sampling in Tornadoes Experiment, to help learn more about tornadoes and increase lead time for warnings, according to the official website.
Two children were also among the dead from Friday night's storms. Scores of people were injured.
Tim and Paul Samaras and Carl Young were known to viewers of the former Discovery Channel show "Storm Chasers."
Doug Kiesling, a videographer who chases storms and calls himself "The Weather Paparazzi," said the three men were more than storm chasers. "They're researchers," he said."Tim wasn't one of the guys that would go up close, he would go into the paths, drop probes, and then get out of the way. Tim was one of the safest people to go out there. ... He's had close calls but he's always had an escape route."

From Marilyn Assenheim:
The Marines at Camp Leatherneck, in Afghanistan, lost one hot meal a day on Saturday. Eager to pre-empt criticism, the Pentagon hastily informed the public that no soldier will lose any calories…they will be provided with yummy, nutritious MRE’s (“meals ready-to-eat”). Too late. Outrage is already growing. MRE’s are pre-packaged, shelf- stable packets provided to soldiers when they are out in the field. Soldiers have carried MRE’s during every battlefield conflict. Where MRE’s have not been utilized is in a soldier’s home camp. There, soldiers are expected to have four meals a day; three hot meals and a sandwich bar. The meal that has been taken off the roster as of Saturday is the “midrats” better known as the midnight to noon service. This includes hot breakfast and sustenance for soldiers coming off duty. Midrats are, arguably, the most important meal in a soldier’s day. It is the only time that Camp Leatherneck marines can be together during the 24/7 service they perform in Afghanistan. Oh yes. The Pentagon is removing 24 hour sandwich service, too. Why is this happening? The reason being given is because of a need to cut down on expenses. There is more to the preposterous excuse; a massive draw-down of troops in Afghanistan, some 30,000 soldiers, requires ancillary workers (e.g. kitchen staff) to be permitted to go home first. You read that right.

Why on earth, since the massive decrease of troops is already saving the government a bundle, should there be a further need to decrease already-Spartan services provided to soldiers remaining on the firing line? Camp Leatherneck is located in Afghanistan’s southwestern Helmand Province, hedged by Pakistan and Iran. This is not the garden spot of the world and any troops remaining in the area, especially as their numbers decrease, are going to be in more danger. Does it make any sense, whatsoever, to deprive them of simple, hot meal? Although the marines have maintained rigorous silence about this decision, one soldier wrote to his wife, but declined to speak on the record. According to NBC.com he wrote: “This boils my skin. One of my entire shifts will go 6.5 hours without a meal. If we need to cut back on money I could come up with 100 other places… Instead, we will target the biggest contributor to morale. I must be losing my mind. What is our senior leadership thinking? I just got back from flying my @#$ off and in a few days, I will not have a meal to replenish me after being away for over 9 hours.” He was being reasonable.

The Lyin’ King’s disdain for the military is common knowledge. Lt. Col. Cliff Gilmore at Camp Leatherneck broke the news. But it is the Lyin’ King’s regime, via the Pentagon, that is instituting this despicable “austerity measure.” The Commander-In-Cheap behaves more like Marie Antoinette. His contempt for the military grows more obvious, daily. On May 24th, he sauntered past the guard of Marine One who saluted him. He didn’t bother to return the salute. Saturday, ABC7 confirmed that Walter Reed Hospital is furloughing over 3,500 caretakers of the Wounded Warrior Project in July. Part of The Lyin’ King’s sequester, of course. He seems to find such an atrocity acceptable. The Lyin’ King is unwilling to cut government spending anywhere but the military. Perhaps he needs a few suggestions: Federal funds have been implemented to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner for public school children. The regime plans to extend the program to include weekends. This is a permanent expansion of government spending. The Lyin’ King might have public schools spare a hot meal a day for the limited time the soldiers remain in Afghanistan. Or perhaps he should just stop acting like King Croesus… with our money.

Mitt Romney is disappointed in President Barack Obama’s tapping of Susan Rice to serve as his national security adviser.
“I find that a disappointing appointment on the part of the president, I think what she did was to very seriously mislead the American people about what happened in Benghazi. My greatest concern about the Benghazi events was the fact there was not a rescue effort attempted and that is very troubling to me.”

Romney is convening a conference in Park City, Utah, featuring leading Republicans — like Chris Christie, Paul Ryan and Rand Paul — as well as donors and a handful of Democrats, including former senior Obama adviser David Axelrod. “What I want to do is bring together people, Republicans and Democrats, businesspeople, philanthropy-oriented people, political folks, and talk about where the country is and say what should we, as a nation, be talking about and working on,” he said in his interview with CNN’s Gloria Borger.

Secretary of State John Kerry ‘quietly acted last month to give Egypt $1.3 billion in U.S. military aid.
Egyptian President, Mohammed Morsi used to be a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, he ran on the MB’s party platform, he clearly has ties to radicals, and he is most certainly using any money he gets to aid the terrorist organization. In addition to that, there have been reports that his opposition—specifically Christians—have been executed; crucified. With all of this in mind, how could anyone approve aid to Egypt? Besides funding a radical, violent man, who is seizing more power for himself on a daily basis; it is almost a guarantee that we are funding terrorism against ourselves, and our allies. That would be like Reagan giving money to Russia during the Cold War. Ethics demand that we cut off all aid to Egypt. But to practice ethics, one must first have scruples; and we know that the Obama administration has none. We have just given $1.3 Billion to a man that almost certainly funds terrorism, a man who is quickly becoming a dictator, and to a country full of radicals who hate the west.

There is a potentially lethal disease spreading among politicians, journalists and academics. Some may call it cowardice, but the courageous Douglas Murray has diagnosed it as Islamophilia.Murray's latest book, Islamophilia, a truly entertaining read, exposes the refusal of public figures to criticize Muslims when they are committing crimes against humanity in the name of Islam.Murray documents true events in the United Kingdom and the United States how our elected "leaders" are quick to slam Christians and the Jewish State of Israel, but turn into sniveling apologists when confronted by blood-thirsty Muslims. In the wake of the recent sneak attack on a British soldier in London and with proof the attackers shouted "Allah Akbar," the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, felt the need to proclaim that this murder was "not a question of blaming the religion of Islam."Confronted with Islam inspired crimes, Johnson and the Obama Administration go out of their way to sell the implausible contention that these are ordinary crimes, not terrorist acts. The premeditated murders at Fort Hood, with Hassan shouting his praises to Allah have been designated acts of "work place violence" rather than what they are: acts of terrorism.

Islamophilia is chock full of examples of how misbehavior inspired by Islam is often explained away by our elites. The pages of this short book are filled with politicians responding to horrendous terrorist attacks with such nonsense like, "The face of terror is not the true faith of Islam. That's not what Islam is all about. Islam is peace." Some version of this claptrap has been said by Democrats and Republicans, the Prince of Wales and the Archbishop of Canterbury. Murray makes a very strong argument against treating Islam as the only truth on earth. He shows how doing so encourages Islamic radicals and is endangering freedom of expression in the West. Those who are kowtowing to Islam have bought into the concept that any criticism of Islam or Muslims is "Islamophobic" and is feeding the movement led by Saudi Arabia to ban criticism of Islam all over the world. Secure America Now is fighting this movement, and Douglas Murray's Islamophilia is a potent weapon for our side -- as it shows the world the dangers of continuing to give misbehaving Muslims a free pass to justify dangerous and deadly acts.

President Barack Hussein Obama’s older half-brother is Malik Obama. Malik is the child of Obama’s father Barack Obama Sr and his first wife Kezia. He was born and raised in Kenya, where he received a degree in accounting at the University of Nairobi.
In addition to illegally operating the non-profit organization, Barack H. Obama Foundation, Malik Obama currently works as the Executive Secretary of the Islamic Da’wa Organization (IDO). The US State Department considers the government of Sudan to be a terrorist organization and it just so happens that the IDO was created by that same Sudanese government.
In 2010, the IDO held a conference in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. The conference was led by Omar Al-Bashir, the President of Sudan. He is wanted on seven counts of crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court. The US State Department has also listed Bashir as the head of the state sponsored terrorism of Sudan.
One of the principle goals of the conference was to promote their Wahhabist form of Islam throughout Africa. Wahhabi is an ultra-conservative form of Sunni Islam that was started by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab in the 1700s. He was an Islamic theologian that lived in Saudi Arabia. This is the predominant form of Islam in Saudi Arabia today.
Malik Obama not only attended the IDO conference, but he spoke at it as well. There are photos of Malik and his boss, Suar Al Dahab, Chairman of the IDO. Dahab has a close relationship with Bashir and has been seen with Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood who says Hitler did not finish the job in exterminating the Jews, and Ismail Haniyeh, the Prime Minister of Hamas (a terrorist organization). On a recent trip to Gaza, the three men appeared together and it was obvious that Dahab demonstrated full support to the two leaders.
With Malik’s obvious ties to Islamic terrorism, I can’t help but wonder just how close the two half-brothers are. According to reports, they each stood as best man at the other’s wedding, although I’m not sure which wedding of Malik’s it’s referring to since he supposedly has 13 wives. Malik has also visited the White House on a number of occasions.
Is it any wonder that during the first four years of Obama’s reign as President, that he insulted Israel and Jews, launched a war against Christians and supported the rise of Islam in the US and abroad? With his half-brother working for and with known Muslim terrorists, he still has free access to the White House and the presidency and it shows.

I am actually quite skeptical that Obama is Islamic. From what I have read of him he seems to be primarily Marxist combined with "liberation theology". It is difficult for me to see Obama as a very religious man, in any case.

President Obama and his family will be going to Africa later this month. But the trip won’t be cheap; it’s expected to cost American taxpayers $60 to $100 million, according to the Washington Post. “When President Obama makes his first extended trip to sub-Saharan Africa later this month, the federal agencies charged with keeping him safe won’t be taking any chances. Hundreds of U.S. Secret Service agents will be dispatched to secure facilities in Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania. A Navy aircraft carrier or amphibious ship, with a fully staffed medical trauma center, will be stationed offshore in case of emergency,” reports the Post. “Military cargo planes will airlift in 56 support vehicles, including 14 limousines and three trucks loaded with sheets of bullet-proof glass to cover the windows of the hotels where the first family will stay. Fighter jets will fly in shifts giving 24-hour coverage over the president’s airspace so they can intervene quickly if an errant plane gets too close. http://MinutemenNews.com/2013/06/the-ob ... z2WE51OeqC" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Public health advocates, environmentalists and laundry workers have petitioned the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to ban “gender-bender” chemical additives found in some household detergents and other cleaning agents.

They‘re also calling for studies on the human risks related to nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs), which are known to be potent endocrine disrupters. These chemicals are already thought to be the cause of male fish transforming into females in waterways around the world.
