So, I have thought about this for a long time and have wanted to post about for a while. The Libyan conflict has brought it back to the forefront of my mind. I agree with those who espouse the ideas that each country has self-determination and should be fighting their own wars, that the MSM is probably not giving us a very good picture of the truth about what's going on in those countries with conflict, and probably most importantly, the US is not the policeman of the world and shouldn't insert itself in the governments and wars of other lands as we are so willing to do. I certainly don't agree with our involvement in Libya or most any other modern conflicts.
That being said, what of little, fairly free countries such as Taiwan or Kuwait? They are surrounded by hostile enemies, much larger than themselves, who (from what I understand and could be totally wrong about because I know I don't have access to the whole world's real story) would come in and take them over in short order, oppressing them with dictatorial and communist regimes that the people do not want. Without these countries having the backing of the US and our allies how could the maintain their sovereignty? If it is indeed their will to be free and sovereign but they just happen to be unluckily next to do a huge country like China how do they protect themselves without our help? Do we not worry about them and say that's the way of the world and if China takes over Taiwan, well, good luck to them? Are there any times it is appropriate for us to make exceptions and help defend smaller countries that obviously are trying to maintain a more free society?
I tend to like to be consistent in most of my political leanings and say what applies to one situation should apply to another, but it seems there may be a possibility for exceptions. What do y'all think?

Fair enough...Question answered. I'll just stick with my consistent stand point of no entangling alliances and warring in foreign lands. I wish Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert weren't so crass so much of the time. They are highly entertaining.Mazal wrote:

Great video.
What's in it for the gadiantons is always the real priority. Does the devil really care about poor little countries/people anywhere? And who is in charge now?
