I resign as moderator

Post by Mahonri »

As has been evidenced by the circus caused by the temporary banning of someone for violating the rules of this forum, too many prefer anarchy.

It was me that got Jenedale banned, if you have a problem with that action, you no longer have anything to worry about. the "problem" has been exterminated.

Therefore, as of immediately, I have resigned as moderator and Brian has taken away any and all mod authority.

have a blast!

Dudes, this is a win for democracy and justice the interwebs over. The return of a single knight is all it took!!! The most oppressive of all moderators in all of moderatordom has been overthrown! The spirit of Camelot wins again!!!

It's just not good to have oppression and "rule" enforcers who make the rules up as they go, ya know? I mean, a good old fashioned constitution is the obvious choice. Long live interwebs freedom!

I manage several websites, including several active forums. It is not easy. I don't know the nature of this situation as I haven't been here that long so I can't comment on it one way or the other. But I empathize with those running/moderating the forums.

Scarecrow wrote:Sad it has come to this. This is usually how good sites start to decline. Many here have no idea how hard it is to moderate, and many sites I've been to have much more strict standards than this one. Heck, if you go to Cougarboard and even talk bout an action taken by a moderator, you'll get banned. This place is about as open and fair as it can be, and the fact that this site lets it's members get away with some of the things said in the Janadelle thread and others is evidence that we really need more moderation not less. A message forum isn't a democracy and honestly the mods shouldn't have to explain any action they take. If it's so crappy here then leave. It's a good thing this isn't my site as I'd ban with reckless abandon, staring with 1984Orwell.
Scarecrow for new moderator!!!

Dudes, do you believe in enforcing written rules, or fuzzy lines that are easily bendable to push an agenda?

Too bad ChelC resigned as well :(

I nominate Numenor's Heir to be a recipient of the "robes of a false priesthood" cloak and carry the power and authority card (be a moderator). I would also like to put on the voting block making the word "dude" or "dude's" a swear word on this site. Swearing will get a person banned. If Mahonri is the only person willing to enforce this rule then I nominate that he be refused to resign until such deed is accomplished.

Yes I know, this isn't a democracy....

Don't be rash. Brian should reinstate Mahorni with the promise that he'll feel much better after banning me as his first action back. It'll make her feel so good that she'll immediately forget all the tough love the real members have given her lately, dudes. The other logical option is to make me interim moderator so I can ban myself. Ooh, and dudes, Brian can also blame all the stirring up to anger against Mahorni on me. I must have been PMing people and stirring the pot, er something.

Thanks for the votes Mark, Gary and Jason, however; If ask I will not run, if nominated I will not serve, I remind everyone; this is the Freedom Forum and has an owner, it's not a "free" forum. I agree with the rules, obey the rules or your out!

Ummmmmmmmmm............... :-o :-\ :-ss @-)

Not sure what I did to "earn" this nomination...nor that I really want it - plus I don't spend all that time in here...not sure if Shadow is praising me or mocking me...just as long as he proclaims: "Long live the Halflings! Praise them with great praise!" :D

I would like to recommend that:
a) We back up our claims - or state it is OPINION
b) well though-out posts and comments should be the norm...
c) always respect for the Gospel and all things and individuals pertained therein (realizing we have different levels of understanding and viewpoints)
d) no profanity
e) ABSOLUTELY NO USE OF THE WORD "DUDE" (I spent 30 years in San Diego, California and it was funny once - use "Dudette" all you like, you can't say it 10 times fast or abuse it like 1984 is doing to the male equivalent). B-)

One of he hardest things in any discussion, debate, or marriage - is the necessity to state your position, try to see where the other side is coming from, and not take differing and opposing positions as a personal attack on you or on what you hold dear. :YMPRAY:
