Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan predicted on Sunday that America faces imminent uprisings that mirror those in the Middle East.

“What you are looking at in Tunisia, in Egypt … Libya, in Bahrain … what you see happening there … you’d better prepare because it will be coming to your door,” Farrakhan said in a booming voice, thousands of followers cheering in his wake.

Farrakhan also called on President Barack Obama to allow protesters to march, urging the president not to attack innocent people when they do.
Agree or disagree?

* In authoritarian states, protesters want more freedom

* Financial adjustments bring anger in Western economies

* Vicious cycle of inflation and unrest

By Peter Apps, Political Risk Correspondent

LONDON, Feb 28 (Reuters) - With the Middle East in turmoil, other authoritarian states jumpy and post-crisis economic pain prompting protest in western Europe and elsewhere, some suspect a systemic rise in worldwide unrest might just be beginning.

Instability in the already volatile oil-producing Middle East could produce a feedback loop where unrest pushes up energy prices, fuelling inflation and deepening discontent both in the region and around the world.

In most countries, the so-called "misery index" -- an aggregation of unemployment and inflation long seen as a warning of protest and instability -- is pushing higher.

I think eventually it will happen. Things have to get really bad first.

As long as people are being feed and entertained, they won't care what freedoms are lost or what the gov't does or doesn't do. It's like that scene in Gladiator where the people are entertained by the "games" and before the "games" the gov't throws bread to them. As long as we have Chralie Sheen, the Oscars and our gov't checks we will continue down he path we're currently on.

So....from all the info, demonstrators, and anti gov marches. I wonder if Pres Obama and Farrakhan will have the same attitude & tolerance if all the demonstrations were against them......

Qaddafi sure cheered on the revolution in Egypt. I am sure he feels quite differently now. And I think that all of them will be stunned that the people don't love them and don't want them. I think our president is quite sure everyone in America loves him and doesn't have a clue how much people don't.

I agree with this. It's a fact, otherwise, we'd have already stepped up.

If protests extend into Saudi Arabia and they have their so-called "day of rage". US gas prices could jump to over 5-6$/gal. Gas at that price will dramatically increase the cost of food at the grocery store and bankrupt states. When states have to cut back on welfare and government jobs, people will demonstrate. Demonstrations can easily turn into riots, and riots into martial law. Also realize that most of the activity on the stock market is insider trading. Multinational companies made a deal with US government to bring in overseas profits which they are using to prop up their own stock. At some point these CEO's will cash out of their stock options and flee the country on their unregistered airplanes.
