D&C 112:
24 Behold, a vengeance cometh speedily upon the inhabitants of the earth, a day of wrath, a day of burning, a day of desolation, of weeping, of mourning, and of lamentation; and as a whirlwind it shall come upon all the face of the earth, saith the Lord.

25 And upon my house shall it begin, and from my house shall it go forth, saith the Lord;
Sec 112 was given to Thomas B Marsh and was referring to the apostacy which was occuring among members at that time. Read these verses along with Sec 87 to see the commencement of wrath poured out upon the nations.
Verse 25 is not speaking of the temple. At the time sec 112 was written, the temple did not exist. His "house" refers to his people. As you suggest, the Missouri/Nauvoo period was the fulfillment of these verses.
There is no reason to take these verses out of context and use them to bash our current church, as many do, by implying that the tribulations of the world are going to begin in SLC because we, as a church, are to wicked.

Carlos, that may be entirely correct, but what if, as in Isaiah's prophecies there is a dual fulfillment? I say that because it stands to reason that just prior to the establishment of Zion, the Church (us members) will need to be refined so that we are prepared to bring forth Zion. I'm not sure that, as a whole we're a Zion people yet.

I have learned, from seeing the progression in my own life, that the Lord has had to humble and refine me more than once. In fact, it has taken a lot of humbling and chastising, in my case. The separation of the wheat from the tares did occur in the early church, to some extent. But before the great and dreadful day of the Lord, it must be completed. I daresay that process has begun and will intensify dramatically.

I agree with the "dual fulfillment" concept as suggestsed by Kathyn. The D&C was cannonized to apply to our time. Otherwise why would those revelations in the D&C be promoted for study in our time.

I agree with this. Everything Carlos said is right, but if we are unworthy and do not establish Zion, we will be punished just like the early saints. So depending on how righteous the church is, this could have dual fulfilment. D&C 97 makes it even clearer.
21Therefore, verily, thus saith the Lord, let Zion rejoice, for this is Zion—the pure in heart; therefore, let Zion rejoice, while all the wicked shall mourn.

22For behold, and lo, vengeance cometh speedily upon the ungodly as the whirlwind; and who shall escape it?

23The Lord’s scourge shall pass over by night and by day, and the report thereof shall vex all people; yea, it shall not be stayed until the Lord come;

24For the indignation of the Lord is kindled against their abominations and all their wicked works.

25Nevertheless, Zion shall escape if she observe to do all things whatsoever I have commanded her.

26But if she observe not to do whatsoever I have commanded her, I will visit her according to all her works, with sore affliction, with pestilence, with plague, with sword, with vengeance, with devouring fire.

27Nevertheless, let it be read this once to her ears, that I, the Lord, have accepted of her offering; and if she sin no more none of these things shall come upon her;
Now compare that to D&C 112. The similarities are striking and when you boil them down, they are both simply a warning that the Lord will punish the world, and the saints, especially, for unrepentant sin. Where much is given, much is expected.
23Verily, verily, I say unto you, darkness covereth the earth, and gross darkness the minds of the people, and all flesh has become corrupt before my face.

24Behold, vengeance cometh speedily upon the inhabitants of the earth, a day of wrath, a day of burning, a day of desolation, of weeping, of mourning, and of lamentation; and as a whirlwind it shall come upon all the face of the earth, saith the Lord.

25And upon my house shall it begin, and from my house shall it go forth, saith the Lord;

26First among those among you, saith the Lord, who have professed to know my name and have not known me, and have blasphemed against me in the midst of my house, saith the Lord.
