It's moving faster?

I normally get a little annoyed when this forum lacks some good spiritual threads... but lately the lack of them hasn't bugged me. I was looking through the recent posts and I am kinda thinking that the reason for all of this is because things are moving at a rapid pace. Don't you feel it too? There's so many current events shaping the future, that we are reporting on them instead. I'm not saying we should neglect the spiritual threads, but mylanta things are moving fast!

I'm going to call you an alarmist. :P Seen the "quickening" talk come and go countless times here. I don't think there is anything we can do but live righteously and be aware. For myself personally, to get caught up in the "end of the world" isn't beneficial to me.

I have noticed a difference in the speed of events since the beginning of 2011. I am very alarmed, but like many of you I feel like I am surrounded by people who are clueless. We have had major earthquakes, storms and flooding around the world, protests all over the middle east and in several states. Obama just announced his administration will not support the Defense of Marriage Act, gasoline is up to $3.15 a gallon, the price of food is going up, the government keeps developing new ways to track and trace us, crime seems to be increasing, the economy is in trouble. Am I missing anything?

...not bad news....good news! ....going towards Zion and its not baby steps anymore!

....supposed to take out N.Korea in the next month or so. Iran is cooking up again. Plenty of rumors of wars....and a few active ones that won't end anytime soon!

Most people I have been in conversation with feel as though time, and the frequancy of these events are speeding up. I believe our Spirits are feeling it and are being notified as such. I believe and feel we don't have much longer to wait for His coming. Whether that's only a couple of years or decades, in the grand design, He is coming.......soon!

It's what's between now and the second coming of Christ that I'm concerned about, especially the cleansing of America for openers as Brother Skousen documented so well with D&C 45: 28-31, D&C 84: 54-58, D&C 97: 21-23, D&C 112: 24-26, & 1 Peter 4: 17-18. The flooding of the earth with the message of the Gospel of Christ and the restoration of the principles of the original constitution to government I look forward to. But the cleansing will, I believe, be most unpleasant.

I was thinking the same thing today. Not very many spiritual posts. But, the news is accelerating...I think all our preparations are going to come in good use very soon. For the last 2-3 months I have tried and tried to think if there is anything I am leaving out, but the answer was always, you are okay. Lately, I have felt, "it is time to hunker down" and it looks like we are on the cusp of it....

There's still time to purchase 365 cans of soup and 500 lbs of rice. Were I not prepared, thats just what I would do.

I long ago discovered there will be people who are prepared, people who wonder about preparation and people who---are gonna die! I'm prepared, wonder if there's something I missed, and its a cinch I'm gonna die! Hopefully before all hell breaks loose, but if not, I'll sit back and watch, thats about all I can do now!

It's hell getting old----- ;)

What's your address?? :))

The most important preparation is found in being spiritually prepared. If a knick-knack or a patty whack takes me out I'll consider it a blessing -so long as I'm prepared! If not I know where Genola is :))

Speaking of earthquakes, I have a lot of home canned food. After my shelves were built, my husband put in 6" wide pieces of plywood across each one to prevent falling off the shelves. You might do this Jules! (if you haven't already... ;)

A lot of the so-called temproal news is also spiritual news.

The temporal preparation is part of the spiritual preparation.

Every physical act has a spiritual component.

If you do the correct temporal preparations, and do all things with an eye single to the glory of God and for the purpose of building Zion - your spiritual preparations are taken care of.

If you are spiritually preparing, then it is implicit that you will be taking care of the temporal preparations as that is what we have been commanded to do.

If you are doing temporal preps only, but are doing it for selfish, survivalist reasons and not with a proper focus - you may survive the physcial challenges but will you spiritually die because of it?

If you are doing spiritual preparation but have postponed obeying the commandments regarding temporal preparations - are you only learning "gospel stuff" and failing to apply it in your life? I sthe Lord going to bless you with temporal sustenance when you have disobeyed the law upon which that blessing is predicated?

No temporal commandments given. Every post on this forum has spiritual ramifications, for good or ill.

Lol, I've got room for about four campers or trailers in my driveway, maybe six tents on my front lawn, but the rest of my land will go for crops. But Buddy, you'd better hurry, my kids will be here lickitty split!

I don't know but once he mentioned having tents on his front yard and campers/trailers there too I figured that was too much for me.
In all reality I'm almost as prepared as I can be. My next purchase will be a wood burning stove. Once I have that I'll feel much better. If there was a way to harness all the hot air from this site I'd do that, but until then I need the stove, and I'll need it before next winter!

Here is some info about stoves, (that you didn’t ask for)

This is what we got:http://www.lopistoves.com/product_guide ... spx?id=211 while there are many to choose from, this one is middle of the road in the Lopi family. These are the features that we particularly took interest in: It had a flat top for basic cooking if we needed it. It has the capability to burn the smoke caused by the wood. We got one with a fan built in to help disperse the heat and keep the stove cooler. (It also helps cool down the stove fast when it gets over heated.) It can get up to 800+ degrees fast!

We put ours in the basement because heat rises. The fan helps push the air towards the stairs. (Our basement is one large room). When it was installed, we asked the installer to put a “vent” into the “Intake” thingy of our heating system. We put this just above the stove in the ceiling. Thus, when we had the stove on, and we wanted to get heat through the house, we turned on the fan, but not the heat, which “sucked” the heat up through the system to the rest of the house. The other thing we do is we move the ceiling tiles so that the warmth goes through to the floor upstairs. The only time we really needed our gas heat to supplement, was when it really got cold, 10-20 below.

The only other things we bought with ours were gloves, these are what I like the best because the are thick leather and long armed: http://www.amazon.com/Minuteman-Long-Ar ... 176&sr=8-4 The only thing I don’t like about them, is that they are pretty big for my not so big hands, but I manage okay. Price is right. I bought two for the price of the one the dealer sold me only because I did not know better when I got my first pairs when we first got the stove.

The other thing I would recommend is some sort of porcelain coated cast iron trivet and at least a 2 quart pot to put water in because the air gets so dry. We bought some from Northline, but I would not recommend you do that, they were very lousy quality. You could buy a “cast iron” tea kettle, but they rust so quickly. Rust is not your friend if your stove gets wet…that is why you want the trivet. Get good quality. It will last much longer.

On your wood, buy it in the spring so it has time to “cure”. Hopefully when you get it, it is dry, but you never know. We burn 4-5 cords a wood for a 2600 SF house.
That’s all I can think of right now. Hopefully, this info helps someone.

Thanks Songbird!
Do you mind me asking what it cost, the stove and the install?
