World Wide Leadership Training

The video will soon be available on-line so I have no hesitation about posting this.
Just one thought I wanted to share. Elder Bednar talked about how the new manual (handbook of instructions) put more responsibility on the auxiliries and represented a Raising of the Bar. Elder D. Todd Christopherson then commented that the church has relied on the Stake Presidents and Bishops to move the work along, but it had gone as far as it could by relying upon them, the church needs the contributions of other members if the church is to accomplish what it has to accomplish in the time we have left.
It left me wondering what I else I could do and just how much time is he talking about?

I, too, was struck by Elder Christopherson's comment about "in the time we have left". My eyes bugged out and I looked all around me to see if anyone else was as struck by it as I was. Nope.
I thought this meeting was spectacular! Elder Eyring and Elder Bednar taught powerfully through the spirit.
I did think it was funny that they said sisters should be called on by name to encourage participation but that was not modelled properly.

It was actually quite sweet to see that they are working on improving their councils just like we are.
I love the focus on encouraging people to progress to the next ordinance. And the focus on buidling up Zion! :ymapplause:

I would need to see the video of him saying that in context before I stuck my foot in my mouth

Elder Christopherson's remarks begin around the 22 minute mark.

I may be wrong, but I think there is a correction needed as to where on the time Elder Christofferson makes that comment. I listened carefully from 22:00 on and he does not actually say it until 1:02:26, but to get the context, you should listen to the whole thing. I can't wait to hear it all.

Well, according to polling and comments made by many on this forum, it all begins to wrap up later this year. /:)
"Time we have left" is a statement of fact, calling us to rise up and offer the expected contribution from those of us sent to Earth right now, but it doesn't necessarily indicate a short time frame. The time we have left might very well be a short matter of months or years, but I tend to think there may still be a lot of time left. It is clear the Lord wants us all to step it up, though. We have our allotted time to do our allotted work in order to keep the preparation of the Kingdom on course. Of course, at some point the Lord will return, but my gut (and it is sizable) tells me there is a lot we need to accomplish before the Lord comes to reign.
On a side note, properties in Independence are dirt cheap right now.

Though, odds are they will fall even more. :-ss

Somehow I knew the comment about the time we have left would be the focus on this forum
Personally, I liked what Elder Nelson said:
We hope that those who hold the authority of the priesthood can grow in their use of that authority to the point that their authority can be exercised with the power and the compassion that the Lord intends. His hope is that 'every man might speak in the name of God the Lord, even the Savior of the world (Doctrine and Covenants 1:20).
We hope that each of us may feel the devotion to the Lord as expressed by Mormon, when he proclaimed: “Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life” (3 Nephi 5:13). That is our ultimate hope for each of you, our beloved associates in this sacred work.
Or how about President Eyring?
My simple suggestion is this: listen today for ideas about how you and those you lead could improve in their capacity to receive and recognize revelation.
President Eyring said it might seem impractical for Church leaders to expect or even hope for the stream of revelation they will need in their daily service. “It will not come without faith and hard work, but it is possible.”
I loved what Elder Holland said as well:
We need help.We need miracles. Every family, every marriage, every child, every neighborhood, every school district, every nation -- I don't know of anybody who doesn't need help. And the help that we want is the power of Godliness made manifest and that is a function of the holy priesthood.
Salvation of family, salvation of individuals, salvation of every man, woman and child in the human family -- that's our task. That's the scope of the Atonement

I just started listening to it. Elder Oaks calls the new handbooks "doctrine." His statement is in line with one I heard while at the MTC: "Current church practice dictates doctrine." It's along the lines of the "Stay close to the body (or mainstream) of the church."
