Hasn't anyone listened to the Prophets? The best days are ahead!!! I'm not giving up on life to become a hobo. Trains are too cold for me. I prefer civil society. Kind of like what Brigham Young said about the natives, we too need to be productive members of society.

Yes, I have been listening, and I spend time preparing, but my senses are overwhelmed by the magnitude of all the troubles in the world. Yes, I believe that the best is yet to come, after all the trials. When I see what has happened in Japan, it has made me take stock personally of what is really important. Just because the best it yet to come though, does not mean I (speaking for myself) can just ignore the realities of the human-ness of all the things around me. I confess: I am affected by it, and I am doing all I can to not be dragged down by it waiting for the best that is yet to come...

When devastation took place succeeding Christ's death it only took about 3 hours to accomplish. What we are faced with is years of events of all kinds until He comes again. I sure would like to see everything done rapidly instead. It's the waiting, fretting, trepidation, foreboding and wondering about surviving it all that weighs me down, and many more people I suppose.

Any thoughts?

We do know the best is yet to come, but we still will have to endure a lot before then and that's the scary part. For me, it's wondering if I'm strong enough spiritually and physically to make it through. I know the Savior will come and He will save most of His Saints, but Joseph Smith said that not all of us would survive these things. Since I have kids and grandkids, it causes me a lot of worry... not for myself but for my friends and family.

Cheer up kathyn! You are strong enough to survive. You have a wonderful testimony, just be true to it and stay close to the Lord, he will make up any difference there may be. Your example will do wonders!

Thanks Mazal. As I tried to point out, it's not so much that I'm worried for myself, but for others.

We have so many things that keep us distracted that we need the continuous reminders to keep us humble and broken hearted and focused on Christ.

The compassion by several of you is touching. I just keep thinking of the words in the song, Come Come Ye Saints: "And should we die, before our journey's through, HAPPY DAY, ALL IS WELL!" We either get to live to witness the most transcendent event in all our eternity, the second coming of the Savior, or we check out early and go home. No matter what, we will quietly and patiently serve his will for us. No matter what. The future is as bright as our faith, the prophet just taught. We are here for a reason. Find gratitude in each moment, and there is never fear to deal with. All is well.

Put your shoulder to the wheel and forebode
Do your duty with a heart full of self pity,
We all won't work; let everyone squat.
Put your shoulder to the quit button.

Totally forgot this song, dudes.

Ooh, and dudes, I bet pregnant women feel like the scared men on this forum. I mean, dudes, if I had a parasite growing inside of me then I would dread the coming labor and delivery. If I were a woman then maybe I would get all the fear, doom and gloom, and pessimistic outlook. But I'm not and I don't see it. They've thought the world would end tomorrow for the last 2000 years, dudes. Let's just live and endure to the end, meaning be positive and enjoy life!!!

It's getting sunny again in Utah! Doesn't it feel wonderful?

Dude, at last this forum is like totally "at one with the universe", man because, like, the one thing we didn't have was like, someone with a vested interest in the medical marijuana debate! Like, welcome dude! :D

It was like, totally gnarly, because like one minute you are were all like, making sense and stuff, and then like you just totally threw that logic stuff out the window because ti was like this major bummer, and you just were like "Dude!" and I was like "Dude!" and then we were just like "Dude! We were like brothers from another mother in the pre-existence dude!" And then we were both like :)) because we realized that, like, that was really so totally true! O:-)

Ahh, thanks, dudes! Not many people have been warm and welcoming here, so, I want to thank you for going the extra mile to make me feel at home. I really enjoyed your two threads about your hard problems, and how humble you are in approaching them. You are a strong spirit and I can tell. Dudes, thanks so much for being kind and respectful to me. You don't know how much it means to me in this very hard period of my life. Dudes, you're a shining star!

Can you clarify what you mean by this post? Because it DOES sound kinda disrespectful and defiling to an amazing process that God has blessed women with the ability to participate in. I think many of us are wondering what point you were trying to make here and how it applies to the thread..... :-\
I'll just interject that I (as a dude =)) ) did not see the disrespect. If I can apply my interpretive skillz...

I took it to mean that a lot of the time we get doom and gloomy. He is likening this to the fear a pregnant woman may have as her delivery date approaches. There is a lot of pain coming before the expected blessing. There may be concerns of whether we will survive the ordeal. So now, in the grand scheme of things we begin to have "contractions" I think he was making a light hearted attempt to tell us to chill out and look forward to the REAL point of what we are going thru - that's the way I took it, not as disrespect towards the fairer sex...

1984, I don't mean to imply you can't answer for yourself - please feel free to indicate if I am way off base on how I am reading you... ;)
