United Order and 2nd amendment

Post by English Saint »

It's been said that communism/socialism/Nazism etc are Satan's versions of Heavenly Father's Law of Consecration. And we all know that Satan's plan is to deny us our liberty. One way of doing this is to ban guns. My question is: will we be able to keep and bear arms when the Church re-establishes the Law of Consecration? I live in Britain, where we have an automatic 5 year prison sentence for being in possession of a firearm. I would like to be able to openly carry a firearm in public because I recognise that as the ultimate expression of freedom. Do you think the we will be given this level of freedom when we are all living the Law of Consecration in Zion? It doesn't matter about arguments that no one will need guns because we will all be loving and happy - like we are in the Temple. I still want to be able to carry a gun. It doesn't mean that I want to use it.

I think we may need guns still for a while to protect ourselves from outsiders, however these verses from Isaiah did come to mind:
3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us ago up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the flaw, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
4 And he shall ajudge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
Maybe they might beat thier guns into bailing wire as well?

This probably depends on WHEN you're talking about. During the Millennium, I think nobody will need guns, either for defense or for food. But the time before that... I think that the New Jerusalem (before the Millennium) will allow the personal choice to bear arms. Might just be for hunting, though, since the scriptures tell us that 'the glory of Zion shall be for a defense'.

Behind the entire anti-gun/pro-gun debate is intent. This is the largest factor in the arguement. If there was some magic wand to get rid of all firearms in a second, there will be chaos. The intent to hurt others or force others still exists. Merely owning firearms, even in stockpiles, isn't in anyway illegal, criminal, or alarming. Only when that person owning them is to be feared or if they have wrong intent.

A gun in the wrong hands is like giving keys of a car to the wrong guy at the bar.

I would say that the potential of people to destroy their weapons will only be a fruit of ridding themselves of the intent to hurt others. It's the whole 'burying the sword' model. Avoiding the sin all together. Weapons/swords/guns very clearly have the purpose of harming others. In the right hands, it defends, protects. In the wrong hands, they will hurt/kill others.
