Jules, thanks for the comments. Midsingles is, I think, 31-45. The main reason I focus on the 25-35 group is because they have much in common socially & they seem to be more on the fence about continued activity. The kids in their older twenties feel increasing pressure as they age closer to 31, and those in their early 30s struggle to stay active as they are booted from YSA wards and asked to transition into local wards.JulesGP wrote:I enjoyed your blog.... great perspective from a point of view that is probably overlooked more than it should be in the church - and may unfortunately begin hitting uncomfortably close to home here soon - as I complete my divorce. Although, maybe I will be exempt from the pains of the midsingles group (as I AM after all, two years past the 25-35 year category), and simply become demoted from my status as a non-widowed member of the adult ward Relief Society, and get thrown into the dating pool of the elderly widows and widowers....?? I will enjoy reading more as you update!
Your statistic of 36% activity rate for young singles really doesn't surprise me. First off, we only have a 50% activity rate in the church as a whole and the demographic your talking about is a high risk group.
I guess I just assumed one of the reasons we had these wards in the first place was to increase activity. Would it really fall below 36% if we were to eliminate these wards?durangout wrote:Your statistic of 36% activity rate for young singles really doesn't surprise me.
